Child Swallowed Coin And Now Constipated
If your child is in pain, has difficulty breathing, or cannot swallow you have an acute emergency. If your child is not having any respiratory difficulty, can swallow food, and has no pain the coin has probably passed to the stomach and watchful waiting is indicated.
You should check stools for several days. Most coins up to the size of a nickel will pass in the stool over no more than five days. During that interval any abdominal pain, swelling, or vomiting may indicate intestinal obstruction by the coin and should be considered an emergency. ...Read more

Why does it feels like I can barely swallow and it feels like I got something stuck in my throat. I know I have been constipated I can't get food to go down and my esophagus getting real tight sometimes
Dyspagia (difficulty swallowing) is a worrisome symptom and warrants medical evaluation right away. Please schedule a visit with your doctor. You will likely need a special test called a barium swallow or an endoscopy. These tests will allow the doctor to visualize your upper GI tract including your esophagus in hopes of finding out why you are having difficulty swallowing. In addition you will be evaluated for possible allergies, and even acid reflux as a cause.
Please see your doctor as soon as possible.
Good luck. ...Read more

My child (2 years old girl) is taking pomegranate and guava for some days. Now she is suffering from constipation. What might be the reason?
Fluid intake: If the only change in her diet has been the increase intake of guava and pomegranate, then it is most likely that she needs more water or fluid intake, as both fruits have a good source of fiber and can make the stool bulky but need water to move it through the intestine. Some children this age will purposely stop the urge to have BM if they have experienced pain or are being potty trained. ...Read more

I started eating cardboard box when I was 5 months I'm now 9 months pregnant and still eating it I'm always constipated wil this harm the baby?
Wood pulp & adhesive: Utilized in making cardboard are clearly not researched or approved food options, thus unknown yet not likely wise. Like many life options, consequences to you & children will likely be delayed & not obvious until way into the future & still confusing. I recently introduced a bit of solids to my 5month old baby. Pureed vegs en fruits-about a tbs in 2 of his feeds. He now seems constipated. Help?
Common problem: Any change in feeds can trigger a change in stooling. The most constipating include rice cereal, bananas& applesauce. The effect can be reduced by reducing volume, or adding loseners like prune juice or apple juice. Solids at this age are not meant to replace breast milk or formula as much as teach a new feeding skill. ...Read more

When can I start to brush my baby s teeth. She s now 13 months old. And what if she swallows some dentiftice is there a problem?
As soon as teeth: As soon as that first tooth arrives, a parent should start caring for it. Simple in the beginning with a 2x2 gauze or wash cloth, but as more teeth erupt, one should be transitioning to a tooth brush and tooth paste. In fact, I supervised my own children's brushing well into their early teens. As far as swallowing toothpaste, a little is not bad and if no Fluoride is in your water, even beneficial. ...Read more
Constipated for a long time now and depended on enema, laxative, etc. Now pregnant with 2nd baby and seriously constipated. Help!
Common problem: Constipation is a common problem in pregnancy. It is safe to use a fiber supplement, probiotics, a stool softener like colace, or a gentle laxative like miralax (polyethylene glycol). My concern is that the constipation was happening in between pregnancies (when things should have been getting back to normal). I'd like to know if your doctor has checked your thyroid function levels. Hypo-thyroid can cause constipation. ...Read more
