Chestnut Allergy (Overview)

Allergy to any food, in this case chestnut will cause symptoms of oral itching, lip or tongue swelling, hives, breathing difficulty and/or throat closure etc. Food allergy is diagnosed with clinical history followed by skin or blood test and that information helps establish the diagnosis and severity of the allergy.

Maybe: Will birch immunotherapy help with oral allergy syndrome? I agree with Dr. Al Hegab that the benefits are not fully understood at this point in time and immunotherapy solely for the purpose of treating OAS is not recommended. However, if you also have allergic rhinitis and/or allergic asthma symptoms, immunotherapy could improve these symptoms, and maybe symptoms of OAS. ...Read more
