Chest pain while running for about 4 minutes last night. got EKG 2 months ago and all looked fine. it was mild and stopped after i finished running.
Info: Key to chest pain 1) Did it hurt because it was cold outside? Did you breathing hurt? 2) Oppressive chest pain? Radiation? did it get better when you stop exercising? Has this happened before? Do you have history of Heart disease? If you are 26, and this has not happened again it is unlikely that it is cardiac in nature. A rest EKG doesnt mean much illiciting ischemia though. See your doctor: Could be a problem with skin, nerves, muscle, shoulder, lung, heart, or stomach. See your doctor for a more thorough history, physical exam and further evaluation. Fast heart rate: Palpitation from fast heart rate can cause chest pain. But, this may also be from chest wall related cause or a congenital heart anomaly. A 7 yr old should not have this symptom. Possibly-don't panic: At 24 you are young for concern, but any chest pain, espec in a smoker, should be eval at least clinically. Simply more hx could poss allow for a more definitive answer.Some people do experience a worsening of sx's shortly after quitting smoking as the lungs start to clear some of the toxins. For some reason I only get stark but very brief center of chest pain when running. Not at rest. Not in other exercises (bike rides, etc). Any ideas?
Not Great: If this is a terrible sharp or tearing quality of pain of great intensity, an er visit is immediately advisable, especially if the pain is migrating.
