Quite a few causes: Chestwall itself, esophagus/stomache, lungs, heart, pancreas, and even liver problems can cause chest pain. In the young, more likely chestwall itself or reflux is causing pain. As we get older heart disease becomes more common cause of concern. Since u gave only limitted info, it is diiffult to tell what you have. Please repost a more specific question or consult your doc. 18 years old. Swollen lymph nodes that haven't grown in size. But I have a cough and difficulty swallowing followed with chest pains. Is this lymphoma?
Correlated or not?: It is hard to know, especially without doing a physical exam and taking a complete medical history, whether or not the long standing enlarged lymph nodes (how big?) and your new symptoms are related. If you have not been to a physician, i would recommend going. It is reassuring the nodes have been stable for a year. Further testing, if warranted, can be done to figure out what is going on. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
It depends on size: Unless these nodes are large(more than 2cm) you do not need to worry. But many diseases affect lymph nodes. Some of the considerations include infections(tb, sarcoid, fungal infections), lymph gland cancers like lymphomas or cancer spread from the lungs or elsewhere in the body. But i would not worry unless they are large enough as the radiologists often over read them anytime they are >0.5cm. ...Read more
Monitoring Centers: Lymphatic system absorbs/carries things too big to go into the arteries/veins like bacteria eaten by white cells and digested food. Lymph nodes "taste" the lymph for anything bad like bacteria/viruses/cancers, etc. When it detects a problem, it alerts the immune system and your body reacts. They enlarge in response to the inflammation they create when they react. They shrink when all is well. ...Read more
Lung tumor: Chest or mediastinal lymph nodes associated with a lesion in the lung most often represent metastasis from a lung primary. This can further be defined by mediastinoscopy and lymph node biopsy or if in the proper position, thoracoscopy removing the lung nodule. A PET/CAT before any procedure will tell whether the nodes are malignant as whether the lung lesion is malignant. ...Read more

If i had a CBC and chest xray in december and they were clear, should I be concerned of swollen lymph nodes in my neck? What could be causing them?
Lymphadenopathy: Multiple enlarged lymph nodes in the neck can be residual of a viral illness but they should shrivel over time. In my experience this is more common in younger patients. In adults, if they don't recede or if they enlarge further a biopsy is often done to see what the pathology is. A normal CBC and chest xray isn't enough to rule out some diseases. I have had swollen lymph nodes on my neck and parotiditis, now they found a mass in my lung and half is not working?
Maybe sarcoidosis?: ..Usually a benign condition, but can cause lung or other organ scarring in a small % of patients. It also sounds like you have a doctor, and for the complex situation you describe, you are better off asking questions of docs who know your history, than trying to figure it out online. I tell my patients, use information from the internet to get the questions to ask your doc, not the answers. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Why the concern?: Chest pain on deep inspiration only is almost certainly chest wall pain and is no concern. All young men have at least one enlarged neck lymph node. A temperature of 37c isn't a fever. Different people have different-shaped bones on their chests.
