Sharp chest pain when sleeping on left side?

Sharp chest pain when sleeping on left side?

Costrochondritis: Generally chest pain when sleeping on the side is musculoskeletal in origin and does not signify heart disease. The only worrisome problem could be reflux, which may be causing pain in your espohagus when you lie on your side.

What causes 19 yr to wake from sleep with sharp chest pain on left side for 2-3 min no other symptoms.

What causes 19 yr to wake from sleep with sharp chest pain on left side for 2-3 min no other symptoms.

Chest pain: At 19 sharp chest pain likely related to some type of pleurisy or chest wall pain. GERD another possibility. Although less likely a more serious cause would be PE. Usually at your age a bop and smoking would need to be involved. Cardiac can be cause, but usually associated with drug use at your age.

Doctor can check now: A person with pain at the chest, rib cage, or left shoulder can see his doctor now to be evaluated. Pains can come from a heart problem (serious!), neck and shoulder muscles, the ribs and their joints, the lungs inside the chest, etc... If one feels his pain is coming from the heart, has a chest tightness, some difficulty breathing, or has past heart disease, he can call 911 to go to the E.R. now.

Chestpain: Not all chestpains are from heart, as you are not getting the pain with your exercise probably not from the heart. It could be related to the stomach and esophagus with irritation/ulcer could muscular, from the bones and cartilage in the chest area. Have it examined to get the right treatment. Light smoking or heavy smoking not really going to help any of these problems.

Chest pain: Most likely it could be musculoskeletal. There are other causes like peluritis, pericarditis or pleuripericarditic pain. Consult your physician for further investigation.

What is the question: You are too young at 23 y/o to have significant heart disease. Is there any family hx of heart disease? I think that this is more likely symptoms of anxiety and I can see you take klonopin (clonazepam) and alprazolam already. I would follow-up with whoever is prescribing and also consider therapy if you are not already in therapy

As above: Although it sounds like muscle spasm, to be careful when it comes to chest pain I prefer that u see u physician for evaluation and work up.

Something!: May be anything from trauma to your chest wall, pneumonia, pneumothorax, and a long list. See you pcp and give a complete history and be examined to get to the source. Some are serious.

Chest pain: Could be reflux, Try maalox, ranitidine or prevecid. Would check for H pylori (a bacteria that worsens reflux, gastritis) Avoid soda, caffeine, energy drinks, alcohol spicy food, fatty foods (all exacerbate reflux). May be asthma from reflux or lung compression from sleeping flat) Rarely e mitral valve prolapse) or other cardiac issue. Get EKG, peak flow, f/u with doctor//urgent care.

Rt sided chest pain radiating to back, shoulder/shoulder blade. Sleeping in recliner bec when I lay down chest pain is worse and on both sides. Ideas?

Pericarditis?: Your symptoms suggest inflammation of the sac surrounding the heart, or less likely, the sac surrounding the lungs. Raynaud's phenomenon is associated with rheumatologic conditions; so is pericarditis.

See your family doc: Your family doctor will need to examine you and order appropriate tests and referrals. If you do not have costochondritis, chances are you will be referred to a cardiologist and or a pulmonologist. Best wishes.

Fast heart, pain: It might be a good idea to get a cardiac event monitor (also known as a Holter monitor) that you wear for 24 hours to record all your heart rhythms for later review and diagnosis. The chest pain may or may not be related and would require more info to evaluate this.

Worth a check: With your doctor, could be just simple anxiety or overstressed, your doctor would go over your history, physicL exam and probably some blood tests, meanwhile try to ear healthy, walk/execise, and have some fresh air, wish you wellness
