Nausea/vomiting, chest pain, diarrhea, blood, tenderness, fever may better clarify whether your back pain is "referred" (such as from esophagus, pancreas, gallbladder). High acidity: Sounds like Gastritis, reflux. Avoid alcohol, spicy food, hot temperature foods, citrus, vinegar, caffeine, tomato-based products, chocolate, spearmint or peppermints, steaks. Start using over-the-counter Nexium, (esomeprazole) or Prilosec in the morning and over-the-counter Zantac or Pepcid at night. You can use TUMS in between the day. The diets adherence is key. GI symptoms: Sounds like you could have reflux and you are feeling and tasting the stomach acid as it splashed out of the stomach and onto the esophagus. You could try to take over the counter medications like Pepcid (famotidine) when it happens. You could also try something like Prilosec but would discuss this with a doctor before starting the medication long term. Also stop eating 2 hours before bed.
