I am experiencing chest pain after exercising. I exercised last night and this morning I have pain that can hurt at times when I breathe. Suggestions?

You should get seen and examined: chest pain with exertion and chest pain with deep breathing and ply different types of conditions

Chest pain with exertion can be related to coronary disease or "hardening of the arteries or a heart valve problem whereas chest discomfort with breathing implies a lung problem or possibly inflammation of the sack that surrounds your heart
You can differentiate among these different possibilities by a thorough examination and obtaining an EKG with further testing as needed depending on examination findings ...Read more

I have chest pain after exercising for long periods of time and it goes away after I rest for only a few minutes. Is this normal?

No: It's not normal but it's unlikely to be dangerous if you're really 22 as your profile says. I see you take Prevacid (lansoprazole) and acid reflux can surely cause this. So can muscular pain. Heart disease that causes chest pain is so rare as to be reportable in your age group unless you have diabetes or use cocaine. ...Read more

I have shortness of breath and chest pain when exercising; is it possible that a 21y/o man can develop chf? How can one tell? Thanks.

Very unlikely: While CHF can occur in young people, it is uncommon. Drugs, poor health and congenital disorders may cause CHF at a young age. It is normal to have some discomfort and shortness of breath when exercising as it is stressing your body to do things you wouldn't do at rest. See your physician if concerned. ...Read more

I have pots, I get chest pain like angina when exercising since 18, im 22. I've had ecg, stress ecg, echo, cmri, mr angiography. Should I do any other?

Normal?: Assuming those tests were all normal (as I would expect in someone your age), I think it's clear that your heart is not the cause of your pain. It's time to investigate a different potential cause. The 2 usual suspects are musculo-skeletal and gastrointestinal. Your pain could be due to gastritis, esophageal reflux, peptic ulcer disease, etc. Or fibromyalgia, costochondritis, myofascial syndrome. ...Read more

I have chest pain, but only at the right side. Is exercising at the gym, and supposedly a muscle issue a good explanation?

I have chest pain, but only at the right side. Is exercising at the gym, and supposedly a muscle issue a good explanation?

Yes: Yes, at 21 years of age and exercising at the gym, it is very likely this is simply a muscle pull. Things that would make this more likely include if it is tender when you push on it and when you stretch the muscle. I would be more worried if these things are not true, or if you have other risk factors - such as a strong family history of early heart disease, smoke, etc... ...Read more

Chest pain after walking fast or upon lifting heavy &exercising at times even as I rest. Always on the left side only. Pain is moderate to severe. Why?

DoTheBest4YourChest: You ask "Why." I'll answer with another "Why" question: Why don't you call your doctor, or someone else's doctor and go in for a face-to-face where the specifics of your situation can be discussed and maybe a few tests done. There are many things that can cause what you describe but I don't want to scare you 'cause at your age they are rare and you'll probably do fine. But why take a chance? Call now. ...Read more

What do you advise if I have chest pain and high heart rate during and after exercising?

Cardiac evaluation: Chest pain during exercise can be a sign that your heart is not getting enough blood during exercise. You should see a physician to be evaluated for possibly coronary artery disease. This most likely will involve a stress test, sonogram of your heart, and possibly a cardiac monitor in order to evaluate the elevated heart rates right when they occur. ...Read more

Can exercising help acid reflux if you are overweight & you eat and lay down I have chest pain for a month now. Don't have heart problems had checked?

Can exercising help acid reflux if you are overweight & you eat and lay down I have chest pain for a month now. Don't have heart problems had checked?

GERD and obesity.: Although some patients have reflux after having exercise, in the long run, exercise will make your reflux better if you are able to use it to help get your weight under control. Obesity certainly matters in GERD. If you're having frequent symptoms, you may need to be on medication and anti-reflux measures, to help control it until you can get your weight down. See your doctor for advice. Good luck ...Read more

Dizziness and nausea with moderate chest pain with changes in heart rate when exercising standing feels better when rested?

See doc: Any symptoms brought on by physical exertion merit further investigation. Given your young age coronary blockages are unlikely. A thorough exam and BP assessment including orthostatics-a murmur might suggest structural causes and if any is appreciated, an echo can be done to rule out hypertrophic cardiomyopathy/structural-congenital heart disease. Ecg/monitoring to rule out arrhythmias. ...Read more

4 months ago I got EKG and Echo done for mild chest pain. Both normal. Now experience labored breathing, pounding, tightness exercising too. Another echo?

Stress test.: If we're still considering the possibility of heart pathology, then the next prudent test would be a stress test. I prefer stress echo because of its negative predictive value and its ability to show what the heart is actually doing during peak exercise. Should that be normal, you may want to consider testing for the lungs. ...Read more
