Had gallbladder surgery recently now having bad burning chest pain. Is it caused by excess of acids or bile? Taking lansoprazole and low fat diet.

GERD: Acid reflux is a separate problem and unfortunately in many cases patients suffering from gallbladder disease suffer from GERD as well and symptoms may be more noticeable now because they might have been attributed to gallbladder problem previously. Many possibilities: Many possibilities exist. Pneumonia is one, although as a young adult, it's hard to believe you remain afflicted for so long. Blood clots must also be considered in light if the history if surgery as well as your persistent symptoms. Do you have leg pain? How soon after your surgery did you feel these symptoms? Had gallbladder surgery 3 weeks ago soon after had a burning throat and pain in chest. Start taking pantoprazole but no better. other treatments?

See surgeon: This could be reflux but so soon after a surgery it is best to check with your surgeon and make sure there are no complications. In the meantime you could try taking the pantoprazole twice a day and other reflux prevention techniques. Here's a few: avoid nicotine,mints, alcohol and acidic foods, raise head of bed 2-3 inches. Depends!: When was your surgery. If it happened in the last 6 weeks, and you are having this type of pain now, you need to call your surgeon or go to the ER. If not, there is some other cause of your symptoms. A failing liver does not usually present with pain. But if you have fatty liver, it won't fail for years. The problem can be reversed with weight loss and proper diet, in many cases. No alcohol! ...Read more
