Chest And Back Acne Remedy
Systemic Rx: You can't do it on your own, and home remedies and topical benzoyl peroxide probably won't touch it. Your physician can probably clear you in about two weeks with a systemic antibiotic that's right for you, perhaps tetracycline 500 2x/day. If this fails and you're offered isotretinoin, accept it. ...Read more
Serious Rx: Acne on the trunk usually requires systemic treatment. Your physician knows how. If something like tetracycline 500 2x/day is insufficient, consider a referral to a dermatologist for isotretinoin. This is neither quick nor easy, but it works. If you're responsible for someone with acne, please get them treated effectively now; not doing so will lead to a lifetime of regrets. ...Read more
Need big guns: If you characterize your acne as horrible, then don't waste time with anything short of the big guns that only a dermatologist can prescribe. Accutane treatment is unpleasant and somewhat dangerous but it in my opinion worth it; you must comply carefully and keep your physician in the loop. All acne can be controlled. Good luck. ...Read more

How do I get rid of chest and back acne it's really gross to me and it makes me insecure about my body now.
Oral med/treatment: Unfortunately it is tough to treat severe acne, especially on back because u can't see/reach well. This often require systemic/oral med. I strongly recommend discussing this issue with your doc--talk to your parents because you are only 16. If your doc is not comfortable with treating acne, he/she may refer you to a local dermatologist. There are many options for you. So, chin up....Good luck. ...Read more
Why do you ask?: Despite "pop" wisdom, acne has little to do with personal hygiene. Beyond giving you a heads-up that poor hygiene is a grave personal and professional liability (like acne), your chest-and-back acne won't clear as you clean up. Trunk acne won't respond well to anything short of systemic treatment. If topical benzoyl peroxide plus a systemic antibiotic doesn't clear you, consider isotretinoin. ...Read more
I am suffering from awful chest and back acne and it does a number to my self esteem, does any body know how to get rid of it?
I do: It's really unfortunate that it's been allowed to get this far. It can't be managed by home remedies or topical therapy. Your physician will probably give a trial of a systemic antibiotic and if this fails, refer you to a dermatologist for isotretinoin. If somebody is interfering with your health care because they "don't believe in doctors" or blame u for your disease, seek help from another adult. ...Read more
I am 34 y/o with a sudden onset of facial, chest and back acne, weight gain, dry skin and excessive sweating... What is causing this?
Real Rx: If you are responsible for someone -- yourself or a family member -- with serious acne, it's your duty to avail yourself of scientific medicine. Systemic antibiotics such as tetracycline are gifts from mother nature, and Isotretinoin is a slightly modified vitamin a molecule. The "natural remedies" (sleeping smeared with honey, etc.) won't work and are unworthy of someone living in the 21st centry. ...Read more
I have significant back acne some on my chest also. I am 21 and have had it since I was 14. How should I treat it?
Serious Rx: It's your biology at this time. Acne is not caused by hygiene or lifestyle. Nothing you did caused you to have acne on your trunk. This is the 21st century and you need to manage it -- visible acne is a sign of poor self-care and a serious professional liability. Topical benzoyl peroxide is your first medication but you will also need prescription strength rx from your physician to supplement it. ...Read more

Benzoyl peroxide.: I like the benzoyl peroxide washes. They come in a variety of strengths and are best when lathered onto the skin during the shower and allowed to sit for a minute or 2 before rinsing.
