The acne in my back does not seem to go. It started when i came back from a camping and has gotten worse. Tried exfoliation. Didn't help. What to do?
Benzoyl/salicylic: Try otc medicated benzoyl peroxide cleansing or salicylic acid. If not you may benefit from antibiotics (topical or oral). There is also a possibility that this is not acne but may be a skin reaction from an exposure during camping and may benefit from treating it as an allergy or dermatitis. Seek medical care for this latter possibility. ...Read more

Dermatologist visit: Acne scars can be treated with some success though not removed. Microsurgery, lasers, fillers, dermabrasion. Forget diet or anything you can apply yourself. Or consider that you have a choice -- not everyone wants these scars removed. I'm glad you're proactive and wish you luck. ...Read more
Dermabrasion - Yes: Dermabrasion, medium/ deep chemical peels and laser resurfacing can help acne scars. The amount of benefit depends on the aggressiveness of the treatment and severity of scarring. Often, multiple treatments are required. Microderm and exfoliation will not help. I hope this information is helpful. Acne Body Wash: The most commonly used body wash for acne is benzoyl peroxide 5-10%. It is readily available without a prescription and is used once daily. Skin issues: Oily and scaling skin on the face may be seborrheic dermatitis. Acne is another problem. I would suggest referral to dermatologist for a full exam. If you're responsible for a young person's emotional & physical health, get them treated effectively. ...Read more
None.: While salicylic acid soaps or lotions and Retin-A cream will cause a certain amount of skin peeling, no topical product will cause the same amount of peeling as a chemical peel. And that is as it should be, because chemical peels should only be done by qualified, experienced people who will monitor carefully to be sure that no harm is done. ...Read more

It can be: All burns (sunburn, chemical peels, or tanning beds) cause inflamation which causes acne. Stress (emotional or physiological) as well as lack of sleep and hormones can all cause acne. Sweat is also a trigger. Since peels also thin the skin as you age, you may want to consider a better approach to skin care to include lasers and medication. ...Read more
