Benzoyl/salicylic: Try otc medicated benzoyl peroxide cleansing or salicylic acid. If not you may benefit from antibiotics (topical or oral). There is also a possibility that this is not acne but may be a skin reaction from an exposure during camping and may benefit from treating it as an allergy or dermatitis. Seek medical care for this latter possibility. ...Read more

Dermabrasion - Yes: Dermabrasion, medium/ deep chemical peels and laser resurfacing can help acne scars. The amount of benefit depends on the aggressiveness of the treatment and severity of scarring. Acne Body Wash: The most commonly used body wash for acne is benzoyl peroxide 5-10%. It is readily available without a prescription and is used once daily. Once should lather up with it, leave it on for at least a few minutes, and rinse off. It will bleach one's towels, so make sure to use ones that you do not like. Please pay attention to each an all of these before wasting money on unnecessary "spa treatments" of dubious, if any value. ...Read more

Scalp very dry and always scaling.Face very oily and acne prone and frequent breakouts. Rest of body has extremely dry skin. How can I manage my skin?

Skin issues: Oily and scaling skin on the face may be seborrheic dermatitis. Acne is another problem. I would suggest referral to dermatologist for a full exam. Acne may respond to benzoyl peroxide and topical or oral antibiotics or vitamin a derivatives. Seborrheic dermatitis, if that's what it is, usually responds to topical steroids or anti-fungal preparation, ketoconazole, selenium preparations, etc. ...Read more

Will chemicals peels improve my acne-pitted skin?

Will chemicals peels improve my acne-pitted skin?

Depends: Acne pitting must be treated with deep peels or lasers. Superficial peels will not work b/c they do not penetrate deep enough. I usually recommend the pixel laser for this. Is it true that acne clearing chemicals and products are dangerous?

No: Life's a matter of weighing benefits and risks, and there's money to made by scaring people with quarter-truths about things they need. The acne treatments that actually work, from benzoyl peroxide to the vitamin a analogues and antibiotics, are well worth the (basically negligible) risks.
