Jumping-cholla cactus (mojavedesert. Net/cactus/468-0468x.Jpg) splinter got stuck ~4 weeks ago. Now inside finger tip. Bit pain on touch, but not red.
Foreign body: You are describing a retained foreign body, a piece of the cactus that embedded under your skin. It is likely to be a source of infection, causing tenderness and pain. Eventually, sometimes after months or even years, retained foreign bodies can work themselves out. However, if this is tender, you may wish to see a surgeon or emergency physician and have this removed with a minor procedure. ...Read more
Can I be tested for Trich, mycoplasma genit and hominis, ureaplasma urealyticum? Clear of Chlam and Gon but have SX of PID.
Yes: Trichomonas can be seen under the microscope in the doctors office in a sample of vaginal discharge. It is a bacterium with a flagellum that swims around. There are tests for mycoplasma and ureaplasma but they are very specialized and not usually available at a standard doctor's office. Its actually easier to treat them empirically rather than test for them. Best wishes! ...Read more

What is the difference between a macro prolactinoma & a prolactin producing cellar chordoma? Thanks!
Look & act different: True prolactinomas arise from and mimic cells of the adult pituitary gland. The less common "pseudoprolactinoma" is a chordoma, a tumor of the vestigial notochord left over from the unborn child; it may disrupt the communication between brain and pituitary and produce hyperprolactinemia. Treatment will probably be different; both are challenges. Good luck. ...Read more

I got urethritis last year and since keep STD testing. Neg for gon/chlam 5x! 3 Swab, 2 Urine. Any possible chance I could STILL have them? If so, how?
Stop Testing: If your physician has not prophylactically treated you with Azithromycin and A shot of Ceftriaxone regardless of the test results you need a new physician. Any public health oriented or STD expert will remind you that these tests can be falsely negative. Any sexually active male with these symptoms needs to be treated. ...Read more
Neg for gon/chlam 3 times as well as trich, hiv, syph, and uti. I suspect myco/ureaplasma. What is the best antibiotic course? No tests where I live..
NGU?: Ureaplasma is normal in the genital tract. So are most mycoplasmas, except M. genitalium. There are no approved tests in the US, but CDC has guidelines for Rx of NGU and M gen if doxycycline or azithromycin don't work. However, the symptoms you list as "conditions" are not those of continuing NGU if you don't have urethral discharge. Best to see an STD or infectious disease specialist. ...Read more
Gyno says with no Chlam or Gon, normal US scan, normal repeated blood tests, normal urine sample that my pelvic and abdo pain isn't PID. True?
PID: PID is mainly a clinical diagnosis: that means there is no "test" for PID, it is diagnosed based on features of physical exam, history, and augmented by lab tests. Cultures for chlamydia, gonorrhea, ultrasound, urine sample are not part of - or even necessary for - the diagnosis. A doctor who has not examined you cannot diagnose whether you had PID or not. Sorry, hope this helps. ...Read more

My wife has Chiari Malformation possibility empty cella and petty mall seizure and very strong depression she think she is going to die.?
Did test of HIV, herpes, chlam, gono, syphilis, BV, yeast are negative. Was given Metro. Gel for foul smell, but is still lightly there. Have HPV.
Bacterial vaginosis?: Foul vaginal odor usually means bacterial vaginosis (BV). There is no single test that is reliable for BV, so your negative test doesn't mean you don't have it. Best treatment for BV is metronidazole by mouth for 5-7 days; vaginal treatment (MetroGel) usually doesn't work. Trichomonas, an STD, is also possible; make sure you were tested (DNA test, not just microscopic). Nothing to do with HPV. ...Read more

Being a cold room (wine cellar around 53F/12C) pain in both ears when talking or humming (moving vocal cords) what could cause it?
The cold air may be causing irritation of the nerves across the ear drum. I have had this sometimes when outside when brisk cold wind hits side of my head. If you have to go out/into a cold environment cover your ears with a scarf. Have a good ear exam to make sure your eardrum anatomy is ok if this becomes a more serious nagging problem.
