Few if any: Zinc is important in making proteins and dna, immune function, wound healing and even taste and smell. The recommended daily allowance (rda) of zinc is 8 mg for women and 11 mg for men. Yes: Technically, it does - a recent review of zinc has shown it to be effective in shortening the common cold, but its use was limited by intolerable side effects.
