Yes, quite common: Unloader braces need to be fitted to each individual knee by a person knowledgeable in technical aspects of fitting such braces. Pain on the medial side, can, nonetheless, be a common complaint. Remember, the premise of such braces is to transfer load from one side of the knee to the other (does not negate load).
