Dehydration?: When there is a simultaneous bilateral problem, think what could be happening that would affect my whole system via my blood stream? Dehydration can cause bilateral calf spasticity, especially if you're low on electrolytes. Also, the onset of a virus is systemic and could cause this. Most likely muscle: Pull or tear. However, one of the worrisome things about injuring your calf, when the pain keeps getting worse and worse, is that it could be compartment syndrome. Magnesium!: Leg cramps are usually due to a magnesium deficiency. I would suggest 400 mg of either magnesium aspartate, magnesium citrate, magnesium glycinate, magnesium maleate or magnesium taurate to relieve this problem. Low calcium: This can be many things, but low calcium intake and/or low but D is most common in girls your age. If you are very active physically, it can be due to muscle fatigue, or sitting in a way that cuts off blood flow to your lower legs. Change your diet and: Fluids. Eat a high fiber diet between 20-25 grams per day, regular meal times and drink 80-100 oz of caffeine free alcohol free fluids daily.
