I am currently taking chantix to stop smoking and i'm also on steroids for bronchitis. Are these two medications safe ?

Depends: If you are on oral steroids, make sure your pulmonary doctor is aware. Chantix can produce weird, vivid and sometimes frightening dreams, and can also worsen depression. Oral steroids can also worsen depression in some people. I do not know if the effects are additive. If your doctor is aware you are on both meds, discuss with him/her. If you are feeling severe sadness, stop the chantix. ...Read more

Preparing a quit-smoking plan and enlisting support from your doctor and your loved ones can greatly improve your chances of success. Your doctor can help you decide if over-the-counter or prescription medications can help. Pick a quit day a few weeks ahead and put it on your calendar. Plan how you're going deal with situations that make you want to smoke. Take advantage of support from family, friends, and co-workers, and consider joining a smoking cessation program so that you don't ...Read more

Have you tried chantix or been successful with any other stop smoking methods?

Yes: I have seen individuals quit with various methods from nicotine gum, support groups, electronic cigarettes, nicotine patches and going cold turkey. One thing they all had in common is they without a doubt wanted to quit smoking. Chantix can be helpful, but like any drug, there are potential serious side effects (depression and suicidal thoughts). Best to discuss options with your doctor. ...Read more

It can: any medication can cause your body to release histamine. That is the end result of a cascade of reactions at the cell level in response to a certain trigger. Is it ok to take plavix (clopidogrel) and chantix at the same time want to quit smoking but need to know if it is safe to tak chantix and plavix (clopidogrel) at the same time

Is it ok to take plavix (clopidogrel) and chantix at the same time want to quit smoking but need to know if it is safe to tak chantix and plavix (clopidogrel) at the same time

Should be safe: There are no reported interactions between Plavix (clopidogrel) and chantix, but there are potential interactions between Plavix (clopidogrel) and tobacco, so that if you discontinue tobacco, it may effect the metabolism of the Plavix (clopidogrel) and clotting. Talk to your doctor. If you are on plavix, (clopidogrel) smoking will aggravate all of the clotting/bleeding problems, so good for you for wanting to quit. Stick with it, and good luck! ...Read more
