Change In A Mole
I had a small raised pink bump that has changed into a mole. Is this normal? It's small, one color, symmetrical, has clear borders and isn't changing.
Have this biopsied: The lesion I would argue has changed but has remained stable as it was initially a small pink bump that clearly became a mole. One approach would be monitoring the lesion closely but in order to obtain a definitive diagnosis a biopsy with a punch or shave or even excisional if you would like it removed regardless is indicated. ...Read more

You : You have mentioned two of the warning signs of melanoma (change in size and two different colors). While i don't really have enough medical information to give you a diagnosis, considering that melanoma is one of the most deadly cancers, and the incidence has skyrocketed, the best and safest thing to do is see a dermatologist and have it biopsied as soon as possible. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
6yr old child has 5mm raised mole. Present for many years. Mole is light - medium brown with pin head size darker area. Over last month no changes. Hair in mole is this a cause for worry.
Mole on hubbys chest that has a dark spot on it then I remember. He says hasn't changed. How fast does melanoma change a mole? Other signs?
Take a picture: If a mole becomes larger, irregular, changes color, bleeds, develops a ulcer or a nodule, it would be important to have it checked out and if needed removed. You may want to take a picture of the mole to compare it to the actual mole a later date, rather than relying on your memory of its appearance. see this site for info. http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/moles/basics/definition/con-20019745 ...Read more
At derm today. He used device said mole slightly atypical and removed. Last year other derm not concerned. No obv changes. Mole is like two brown and one reddish combined 5mm. Worried now ...
Your question is ???: This is a common problem. Just like anything else on your body, a year goes by & things change in ways you cannot appreciate because you live with it daily. The derm's goal is to leave it alone if it appears benign, remove it before it turns bad or get it early before it creates a problem.Hopefully s/he submitted it for pathologist eval to see if it's just a mole. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Ugly duckling: No hard and fast rules about when to watch and when to cut. One way to decide is the ugly duckling principle. If one mole looks a lot different then the rest remove it. If a lot of abnormal moles take the worst, the one that is changing, or new. For sure remove if =/>7mm irreg shape > 2 colors fuzzy borders. There is also the willy factor. If it gives me the "willies" get it out. Good health ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
It's moot: If a mole is changing, or shows any sign of being a melanoma, you need to make an appointment and be seen now. I would not accept a waiting period of more than two weeks, and would try to be seen at once. Progression from a benign-looking mole into a lesion capable of metastasizing is known to take as little as a few months. Get seen now. ...Read more
