No: its not "concerning" at all...and the advice to change diet is to reduce your cholesterol/fat intake ( The "trend" is for lower and lower LDL and TOTAL Cholesterol levels! Ask your Health Care Provider for a GOAL..just to say "change diet" is NOT enough info The trend is also for patients to achieve higher and higher HDL levels (using EXERCISE to obtain this is a good idea for HEART CONDITIONING! ...Read more

Would change in diet/exercise affect possible blood tests at my endo appt? Should I wait until after the appt to stray from my usual patterns?
Probably no: Diet and exercise are life style changes and take time to change blood levels. We all hope to see immediate changes but generally it takes about 3 months to 1 year because people have different levels of compliance, education on how to make changes and what works for them. Get your lab work, establish your baseline and continue to do the lifestyle changes. Every 1% improvement is exponential. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

My total cholesterol came to 224.My dr had prescribed me Welchol (colesevelam) for 4 months.Any lifestyle change, diet and exercise that will rduce cholesterol.Thx.
Bad information: Hi. Total cholesterol is a virtually worthless test. What matters in atherosclerosis risk assessment are triglycerides, HDL, LDL, and non-HDL. Treatment decisions should never be based on total cholesterol. LDL is pretty much genetically determined. If it's high, medication is warranted (primarily a statin, but colesevelam is also good). Triglyceride is very diet and exercise responsive. Good luck ...Read more

Unusual: Defying physics is remarkable. You have created energy without a source. Most people cannot possibly gain weight without a change in diet or exercise. I changed my diet/exercise routine 4 months ago & since then I've had a lighter period & no cramps. Is it all due to lifestyle changes?
Exercise is great: very likely especially if you are overweight. Exercise is great because it improves your hormonal milieu, lowers blood pressure, and insulin resistance. However, in excess even exercise can be dangerous as in excess it can cause loss of menstruation in patients with eating disorders. Eat a balanced diet and good measure of exercise , about 200 minutes per week in divided doses. ...Read more

Lexapro (escitalopram): Gaining weight is not fun. Change to Lexapro (escitalopram) may be OK but I am concerned about your weight gain. Please have your doctor refer you to a nurse specialist - she will do everything possible to help you with weight gain and that may well remove the need for Zoloft or Lexapro (escitalopram). Not sure: Exactly what you mean.
