After a normal pregnancy I suffered two miscarriages in a row. What can I do to insure a normal pregnancy the next time?

After a normal pregnancy I suffered two miscarriages in a row. What can I do to insure a normal pregnancy the next time?

Get a checkup: Most likely your next pregnancy will be normal and healthy. However, after 2 miscarriages in a row, an evaluation by your gynecologist or a reproductive endocrinologist is a good idea. Most problems that are found during an evaluation for recurrent miscarriage can be fixed: low thyroid, uterine scarring, are 2 examples of common curable problems in this situation. See your doctor! Good luck! ...Read more

I have had two unexplained miscarriages in arow am now pregnant again what are the chances of having a 3rd aged 23?

Higher than usual.: All things being equal, your chances of miscarriage with this pregnancy is slightly higher than that of other women your age. But because you are young, you also have a higher chance of a successful pregnancy, especially if you're healthy. If not done already, your OB should get an HCG level, pelvic exam and ultrasound. If everything looks good, chances are you'll have a healthy a baby ...Read more

Are my chances increased after three miscarriages? My ex husband n I had two. Doc did test on me n all came back normal. Curr. Preg n scared to death

Yes: 3 miscarriages qualifies as 'recurrent pregnancy loss' sometimes the miscarriages aren't due to you, but due to sperm as well. Chromosomal abnormalities have to be considered in both of you. You may want to see an infertility specialist to get some testing to see if that could be an issue (i.e. Balanced translocations, etc). Without knowing what tests were done, can't speak if had all workup. ...Read more

Do two miscarriages (6 weeks and 8 weeks) indicate better chances of a successful pregnancy in future than not conceiving at all?

Yes and no: Yes, it is better than not ever being able to conceive at all. No, because the most common reason for early pregnancy loss is a genetic combination with the embryo that is incompatible with continuing life. This situation may repeat itself if pregnancy again occurs ;statistically. ...Read more

Had a miscarriage last year started taking prenatal vitamins two days ago, what is the chance of having another miscarriage...Afraid?

Miscarriage: I'm sorry to hear of your loss last year -- that's painful for anyone. About 15% of all pregnant women have miscarriages -- but this is not likely related to using prenatal vitamins. Prenatal vitamins especially supply folate, (folic acid) which prevents neural tube birth defects. Smoking is one factor that may increase the risk of miscarriage. You & your doctor can discuss any risks in your specific case. ...Read more

Get in shape: I would stress that you need to exercise enough and diet enough to get in great shape before getting pregnant. It is difficult enough to lose weight and get in shape when you are diabetic. It gets more difficult while pregnant. You need to start out the pregnancy at your best.
Warning: side effects of exercise and maintaining ideal body weight include health and longevity. ...Read more

What could be the reasons for 3 miscarriages in a row? Miscarriages 10/2013, 11/2013 and 01/2014. I've had 3 heathy pregnancies previously.

Chromosomal: The most common reason for any miscarriage is a chromosomal problem. Assuming this is the same father. It's unlikely that you have a problem that has gone 'undetected' in your 3 prior normal pregnancies. But 3 miscarriages in a row is traumatic and emotionally painful. You and your husband/partner may want to see doctor just to get checked out. I'm so sorry for your losses. ...Read more

I have had 4 miscarriages in a row. I am currently 4-5 weeks pregnant, I have very slight cramp on my left side gas& diarrhea. Should I b concerned?

Yes: The fact that you've had 4 miscarriages in a row is obvious cause for concern. There could be something anatomically wrong, or chromosomally wrong. It's hard to say whether this cramping is a miscarriage, only time will tell. I'm sorry you're going through this and hope you're successful with this pregnancy. Get an ultrasound at around 5 1/2 weeks and hopefully you'll see a heartbeat. ...Read more

Why do I keep having early miscarriages? I have had two. The second was at five and a half weeks along. What could this mean?

See a REI specialist: You still have a chance of a healthy pregnancy 'on your own', but after 2 or more miscarriages we do tests to find out why. Possible causes include autoimmune conditions like antiphospholipid antibodies, blood clotting disorders, low egg supply, problems in the uterus like fibroids or a uterine septum, hormonal problems, or male or female genetic problems. Get checked out by a rei specialist. ...Read more

Doctor can evaluate: An ob-gyn doctor can evaluate to see why one is getting miscarriages. Sometimes it is just bad luck, but other times there are genetic problems in either parent (leading to genetic problems in the fetus), anatomical problems in the uterus, hormonal problems, auto-immune disorders, etc... ...Read more

I have had two spontaneous miscarriages and later on, when I was diagnosed as having endometriosis, I was told that these events could be related. Is this true?

Not likely: Endometriosis is a condition in which the lining of the uterus is found on other internal organs like the ovaries, bladder and bowel. It can cause an problem with infertility by causing scar tissue which may block the fallopian tubes. During pregnancy endometriosis

Anyone know what is a miscarriage like at two months?

Depends: Depends upon how the pregnancy had progressed. If you had developed an 8 week embryo, then it would be extremely heavy bleeding, very very intense cramping, and passage of the embryo and sac (hopefully all would pass spontaneously), then bleeding should slow down. If less progression of the pregnancy, then may be a little lighter than that. ...Read more
