What antibiotic can i take for a four months old chalazion? What should i do with this? Over the counter antibiotic

Antibiotics wont hel: If a chalazion is present for more than 3-4 weeks it is unlikely to respond to antibiotics. combination topical agents such as maxitrol (dexamethasone neomycin and polymyxin) (which require a prescription) and include antibiotic/steriod components may be helpful during the first 3-4 weeks. warm compresses are also extremely helpful. beyond 1month i tend to surgically remove them.

What is the treatment for chalazion?

What is the treatment for chalazion?

Warm compresses: First step is to apply heat to your eyelid to melt the blockage causing the chalazion. The best way is to boil an egg, wrap it in cloth and put it over the eye, 10 min on, 10 min off. You can also microwave a sock with rice in it and use it. Just make sure whatever you use stays hot for 10 minutes. If that doesn't work, have your eye doc drain it. ...Read more

After my stye went away i still had a bump, googled it & found out it is a chalazion but now my eyelid is way darker than the other. Why? Treatment?

Skin pigmentation: Changes can be part of healing. A stye and a chalazion are inflammatory lesions. This can cause the pigment cells in the skin to increase pigment, resulting in increased pigmentation of the skin. For instance, it is common for folks with mild to moderate pigmentation (asians, hispanics, middle eastern heritage etc.) to have increased pigmentation at healed sites of skin injury. ...Read more

Often, : Often, a series of hot compresses during the day will work, with shorter duration for each compress. Many of my patients have success with 3 or 4 compresses, 5-10 minutes each session. The potato works well, some patients have mentioned that they have used a hard-boiled egg the same way. This holds heat longer than using a washcloth alone.

If this does not work within a week or so, then eye drops, or surgical removal will be successful. See your eye doctor if compresses fail! ...Read more
