Chalazion Over The Counter Treatment
What antibiotic can i take for a four months old chalazion? What should i do with this? Over the counter antibiotic
Antibiotics wont hel:
If a chalazion is present for more than 3-4 weeks it is unlikely to respond to antibiotics. combination topical agents such as maxitrol (dexamethasone neomycin and polymyxin) (which require a prescription) and include antibiotic/steriod components may be helpful during the first 3-4 weeks. warm compresses are also extremely helpful. beyond 1month i tend to surgically remove them.

Just make sure whatever you use stays hot for 10 minutes. If that doesn't work, have your eye doc drain it. ...Read more

Often, a series of hot compresses during the day will work, with shorter duration for each compress. Many of my patients have success with 3 or 4 compresses, 5-10 minutes each session. The potato works well, some patients have mentioned that they have used a hard-boiled egg the same way. This holds heat longer than using a washcloth alone.
If this does not work within a week or so, then eye drops, or surgical removal will be successful. See your eye doctor if compresses fail! ...Read more
