Cetirizine Dosage 20mg
Will gradual increases in dosages of reactine (zyrtec) eventually cause rebound congestion? Thanks.
What is the zyrtec (cetirizine) syrup dosage for a 21kg child & what is the max dosage per day. Thanks?
Are doses of cetirizine (reactine) 20mg bid too high for a period of 6 months. Could you link any studies about that dosage for long periods of time.
What r u treating?: depends on the condition you are trying to treat, if an allergic reaction, yes you can give the zyrtec, but the labels won't tell how much to give if below 2-years old, you can give 2ml to help the reaction. but if you are trying to treat other conditions as runny nose or congestion, see your pediatrician, good luck ...Read more
Lower than adult.: Depends on the size: less than 90lbs, go with 5mg. If larger, the 10mg dose should be fine. Recently I have seen some very large 12 year olds. ...Read more

How much dosage of zyrtec can i have in a day? Im 78 years old.. Im having liquid food Ensure, for over a month,, Could this result in itching allergy
Possible: Ensure has ingredients (with dairy one of them) which can be allergenic. On the other hand, at your age, dry skin may be a more likely issue. Try unscented soap, apply moisturizer on your skin <3 mins after bathing and again in 12 hrs +/- bathing. Zyrtec would not help dry skin but you can take it up to 4 x daily if needed. For food allergy, avoidance is a must. ...Read more
Why are the mg dosage of antihistamines different? Allegra is 180mg , Claritin (loratadine) is 5mg , and zyrtec is 10mg.
5-10 mg: 5-10 mg by mouth each day.Get a more detailed answer ›
Too much cetirizine: Too much of any drug could be dangerous but Cetirizine is generally very safe in usual doses. It is not uncommon for allergists to prescribe Cetirizine in higher than recommended doses up to 40 mg per day. This does not mean it is completely safe since sedation is common at this dose. Over-the-counter medications should be used at the recommended doses unless supervised by a physician. ...Read more

Took 1/2 zyrtec (cetirizine) 5 hours ago. Is it safe to take 1/2 dose nyquil liquigels (1 capsule)?
My body acts weird. Everytime I use Zyrtec (cetirizine) drops I get very little drowsy only on the first dose. My tolerance goes away if I stop it for long. Why?
Expected: That's true with most sedating antihistamines. One does get used to the drowsiness after a couple of weeks. Whether this is due to a faster breakdown of the drug by the liver or reconditioning of the brain- no one knows However it is believed that some impairment in performance does happen when measured by performance tools even though you may not be feeling it. ...Read more
I give my 17mnth old 1/2 teaspoon of children's zyrtec (cetirizine) for allergies but some days it's not enough. Can i increase the dose or try something differ t?
Do not increase : A 17 month old should not have allergies to inhaled items like dust or pollen. Zyrtec (cetirizine) could cause drowsiness and i would avoid long term use of zyrtec (cetirizine) in your child. If your child has a runny or stuffy nose that is unresponsive to zyrtec (cetirizine) then see your doctor to make sure there isn't an infection brewing. ...Read more

Pedi. recommended Zyrtec, (cetirizine) 9 mo boy. I mistakenly gave him 5x the dose (3 ml vs 8 drops). no visible sideeffects. Is it ok now to restart 8 drops?
No: Not to be used under 2 yrs of age. That being said, some physicians will off-label prescribe it 6 mo - 2 yr olds at around 2.5 - 5 mg/day. If you gave 3 ml (= 3 mg) it is unlikely child would have any significant side effects. Again, in general, not advisable to give kiddos under 2 antihistamines. ...Read more

Yes, but why??: There are no bad interactions between zyrtec (cetirizine) and melatonin. They are safe to use together. The bigger question is why daily melatonin.
