What are cetirizine tablet side effects?

Generic for Zyrtec (cetirizine): The most common side effects of Cetirizine are sedation and dry mouth. Children typically tolerate the sedative effects better than adults but parents have reported changes in personality and mood amongst my patient population under the age of 7 years. Overall Cetirizine is a very effective once a day antihistamine in the class of 2nd generation antihistamines.

I went to insta care here in florida the other day. The doctor proscribed Flonase naisal spray and changing my allergy meds to zyrtec (cetirizine) is this ok?

Cross-check: There shouldn't be any problem taking the 2 of them together. Just talk to your pcp or pharmacist to make sure you aren't duplicating anything and accidentally doubling up. The main goal should be managing your allergies by reducing exposure to triggers and keeping symptoms at bay.

May not be croup: Croup would be somewhat unusual at this age (usually up to 3 years old). I wonder if there is some other airway problem. Croup is caused by a virus so there is no medication to prevent it. I would recommend seeing an ENT doctor to find out if there is something else causing these symptoms.

Toddler cough: Hello, zyrtec (cetirizine) is an antihistamine that may help with allergic disease. It will also help dry up excessive watery drainage. If your child has a cough linked to an allergic condition or possibly asthma, then zyrtec (cetirizine) may be very helpful. Check with your doctor for confirmation.

What happens if you take more then one cetirizine in a 24 hour period? Does it work better?

What happens if you take more then one cetirizine in a 24 hour period? Does it work better?

Possible side effect: Cetirizine is only recommended to be take once every 24 hours. Taking more than the recommended dose can be harmful in terms of increasing the chances of side effects. If your allergy symptoms are not relieved by taking over the counter anti-histamines then talk with your physician to determine additional or alternative therapies. The symptoms may be something other than allegies.

Is it safe to take another 24-hour zyrtec (cetirizine) antihistamine if there's still about 8 hours left before the previous one wears off?

Is it safe to take another 24-hour zyrtec (cetirizine) antihistamine if there's still about 8 hours left before the previous one wears off?

Follow dosing: It's best to adhere to the dosing recommended. It would be hard to overdo it with the zyrtec (cetirizine), the way you are suggesting, but it begs the question- how well does the rx work, if you want more before the proper dosing interval? I would think you need to talk with your doctor about other options to achieve safe allergy control. Sometimes more than one rx is necessary.

I had grapefruit, then took 10mg of cetirizine about an hour or so later. I had no idea grapefruit could interact with antihistamines. Am I in danger?

I had grapefruit, then took 10mg of cetirizine about an hour or so later. I had no idea grapefruit could interact with antihistamines. Am I in danger?

No.: There is a protein in grapefruit that can inhibit one of the systems in the body that metabolize drugs. So, this may increase the potency of certain family of drugs, by decreasing the breaking down of the drug in the body. The two antihistamines that were in this category have been removed from the market, so there is probably a small, but clinically insignificant, effect. Don't worry.
