Can longer implantation time affect dating ultrasounds in early pregnancy? Can it affect growth estimates in early pregnancy and date you behind?
"Dating" a fetus: The "dating" refers to the gestational age of the developing fetus not a social romantic encounter. Ultrasounds are only accurate plus or minus 2 weeks gestation unless done serially.(more than one). 'That is why OB MD's use multiple parameters to date pregnancies including LMP(last period), pelvic exam uterine size, etc. "Dating" is an inexact science in life and medicine. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Would early ovulation causing early conception show in the gestational age since not all woman ovulate 14 days after lmp?
Yes, no, and maybe: Yes, if she knows how to adjust her counting based on the length of her cycles or on which day she usually ovulates. Yes, if using an ultrasound to do the dating, such as an 8-11 week ultrasound scan. No, if all she uses for counting is the first day of her last menstrual period and her periods are much longer or much shorter than 28 days. And, maybe it matters little, as all dates are estimates. ...Read more

Does heavy bleeding in early pregnancy affect the baby's intelligence remembering the brain is develop in early pregnancy?
NO, HIGH/CLOSED: In early pregnancy the cervix is closed and 'fairly high' in the vagina unless there is 'significant pelvic relaxation' from previous vaginal deliveries . If the cervix dilates in early pregnancy, then a miscarriage may result. This problem usually occurs ~14 weeks and is referred to as 'incompetent cervix'. Because the baby is well protected, sex is ok in pregnancy unless there is a complication. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

At about 20 weeks: Gender is best seen at 18-20 weeks gestation. This is also the time the anatomy scan is usually done. In some cases, the gender can be seen earlier and in still others, we still cannot see it due to the position of the baby and other factors regardless of how far along you are. In general, they can check for gender at 18-20 weeks when they do the anatomy scan. ...Read more

Vaginal ultrasound did not detect heartbeat at 6 weeks 4 days. Seen the sac and embryo. Risk of miscarriage?
50/50: At this point i would say your chances are about 50/50. A vaginal sonogram at 6 weeks and 4 days can usually see a heartbeat; but if your dates are off a little, it could be too early. As long as you aren't having a lot of pain or heavy bleeding, waiting a week and rechecking the sonogram is probably best. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Ultrasound is better: The best way to determine the presence of an ectopic pregnancy is: 1. A pelvic exam 2. Hcg levels that are rising abnormally 3. Ultrasound ultrasound is a far superior way to detect an ectopic, especially when it is very early. If it were seen on ct scan, then it is much further along and extremely dangerous. ...Read more
Ectopic pregnancy history.I'm 4-5 weeks pregnant but abdominal ultrasound did not see anything in uterus. To repeat scan in 14days.Is this normal?
Early, yes. : I think i just answered a follow up question about this topic. The HCG usually doubles every two days. It is not exact and it is not really possible to say exactly what day of pregnancy you are based on the hcg. This number is probably more than a week pregnant though. In very early pregnancy, the HCG may not even be detectable yet. ...Read more
When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks.
