39 weeks: The amount of cervical mucus you are seeing May or May not mean anything. What did your doctor say at your visit this week? Was your cervix changing? If i was dilated 3 CM and my cervix was 75 % effaced, and have previously had silent labor, when do I know when to go in?
Labor: Most women will still notice some period heaviness or mild cramps when labor starts. If you do feel something that's 5 min apart and lasts 1 hour, go in to hospital. If you don't feel baby move, go in. If water breaks or bleeding occurs, go in. If pressure in pelvis increases, go in. If any questions, call your doctor. ...Read more

I hope not: 35wks is a bit too soon to deliver. If you begin to feel cramping or other signs that premature labor is starting you should contact your OB immediately & arrange to be evaluated. Pre-term labor can be stopped if the process is recognized early enough. Add another few wks & you can avoid a nicu stay for baby. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Is it a mistake to be induced at 38 weeks sharp? Husband can't be present if we wait. 2nd pregnancy. Cervix dialated but not effaced. Dr. Says "ok".
Not recommended: In the recent past, we were seeing increased admissions to the nicu because of 'social' inductions. The american college of obstetricians and gynecologists do not recommend inductions at less than 39 weeks unless there is a medical issue like high blood pressure, diabetes, etc. Although you might have a high chance of successful induction, there is a slight increased chance of baby complications. ...Read more
30wks+4dayspregnant on strict hospital br unmeasurable cervix dilated 1cm fully effaced with funneling may be sent home @32 weeks bad idea to send home?
Not necessarily: New data has shown us that women in your situation do not need to be hospitalized long term. In fact, hospitalization can cause other problems (like blood clots or hospital acquired infections). If you're doctor sends you home, it's likely that he/she knows you'll do okay. If your water breaks or you start to have contractions, of course you'll head straight back. Good luck! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Is emergent mcdonald 3 stitches as successful as elective If cervix is not dilated or effaced at all, just 21mm funnel and CL 23mm.no bulging membranes?
No: What's different about the situation you describe is that there has been cervical shortening, which, in and of itself, increases your risk for preterm delivery. Your cervix is still pretty long, though, at 23mm. Likely the stitch will be successful at helping to prevent preterm birth. It's good, as well, that no bulging membranes. Good luck and I hope that your pregnancy goes to term! ...Read more
I will be 39 weeks tomorrow. 2cm dialated 50 percent effaced. Had cervix sweep done at appt today. How long should it be before i can expect labor ?
Who knows?: Labor initiation will depend upon your previous number of deliveries, and when Mother Nature decides to start the process. An older OB MD when I trained in OB GYN was most accurate in his old adage, that "If the apple is ripe, it will fall off the tree". We only "pluck apples"(induce labor) when you are post dates or there is a known medical problem with you or the baby. ...Read more
