Interesting.: Cervical cancer is caused by a virus that if left unattenddd can become cancer. But i don't suppose this is the kind of infection you were concerned about. The answer to that is no. Other kinds of infection do not become cancer. But cervical infections should be treated as they may impair your fertility later in life. ...Read more

Cervical Smears: A routine pap can show abnormal cells due to either hpv (virus) or bacterial infections (chlamydia) or yeast (candida). Since a pathologist is looking at small cells they can see abnormalities that are reported to the doctor and then to you. Probably HPV: If you were just told of the infection and not given medication, this is likely hpv; hpv is a virus that is ssexually transmitted, and what it is known for is the potential to cause cervical cancer. That being said, the majority of women will clear the infection without issues; however, it is important to get annual screens or more frequent as long as you have atypical cells on pap. ...Read more
