Cervix Cryosurgery (Overview)

Cryotherapy is a therapeutic modality that uses extreme cold to freeze the cervix in an effort to destroy abnormal cells. It is indiscriminate, killing normal cells along with the abnormal. The length of time it is applied determines the depth of tissue destruction. Because of its imprecision, it has largely been replaced by leep (loop electrosurgical excisional procedure).

Had cryosurgery on 10/30 on my cervix I have continued to spot every day since that sex has become very painful to the point of tears dr won't help?

See another doc..: I am sorry to hear of your trouble. Cryosurgery of the cervix done 1 month ago should have healed by now. I am not too concerned about a bit of spotting because the tissue of healing cervix is thin and easily traumatized with intercourse. The severe pain is really concerning as this suggests possible infection/cervicitis or endometritis etc...See you family doc or another gyn doc asap. Good luck. ...Read more
