What are the best exercises for upper cervical spine instability? I have Ehlers danlos and want to start doing exercises to help my neck.

You need individual: Instruction. For most, It would be fairly safe to recommend a few simple cervical stretches for range of motion and flexibility, but if you truly have instability in the setting of Ehlers-Danlos, then any exercises need to be specifically prescribed for you. Bracing and corrective surgery also play a role in the treatment of joint complications. Continue to work with your doctors, esp Cardiologist

Dynamic views: Instability of the cervical spine best evaluated in the lateral position - with flexion/extension xrays. Probably not dangerous. See md for full workup.

Nerve pain: Stenosis refers to crowding and/or impingement of the nerves or spinal cord - therefore the most common symptoms would be nerve type symptoms in the arms, such as numbness, tingling, weakness, pain. Having said that, it's very uncommon for an 18 year old to have cervical stenosis.

If it is a painful pseudoarthrosis then an additional surgery can be done to make the level fuse. This usually involves a posterior fusion (placing screws and fusing from the back of the neck in addition to the front).
