Cervical Rib Neck Pain
Can cervical radiculopathy cause pain in shoulder, arm, side of chest and sometimes hand? But no neck pain? Most pain is inner arm. Mostly when I move.
Strange but true: Cervical radiculopathy occasionally can be present without the presence of significant neck pain. That is a little odd when we see it and for that reason deserves to be looked at in detail to make sure something else may not be causing neurological symptoms such as a mass lesion, nutritional deficiency, etc. Emg studies often help answer this question as well. A good neurologist can help with this.See 1 more doctor answer
I had extra cervical rib I m 30 yrs old I had very bad pain in my neck I can't move my neck help me?
No cerv rib: One there are no cervical ribs in the body so if u have them they are all extra. Lol. Get your neck pain checked.
Neck pain: Cervical lordosis is normal curvature of the cervical spine. It looks like a bow from side. If one loose lordosis aka straightening of cervical spine head translates forward causing increased load on muscles on back of your neck. If not treated one can suffer from chronic neck pain, headaches and shoulder pain.See 1 more doctor answer
Evaluate Pillow: If you wake up with headaches and neck pain, it could be the pillow you are sleeping on or position while you are sleeping. Try a neutral position for your neck, not one that places your neck in extension too much.
I have chronic, severe cervical (neck) pain with neurological problems too. Where can I get help for both?
Neck and Neuro: Depends upon your neurological problem as to which doc to see. Physiatrists (pm&r specialists) can often deal with this mixed bag very nicely. Provide therapy, pain management, address spasm/contractures, bracing, etc. Neurologists may also help from the standpoint of nonsurgical care. An ortho spine or neurosurgical specialist should be seen if neck surgery is contemplated.
Cervical median branch block relieved my neck pain for 2 days then pain again. Did mbb again. Same result. Now it's time for ablation?
What is the cause: Medial branch blocks (mmb) of nerves anesthetize few hours, proving nerves carry pain signals to brain; ablation also temp (few mo). But what are actual peripheral pain transducers? Mbb does not reveal. Are pain transducers myofascia, muscles, tendons, ligaments, or nerves pinched at spine? True cure requires id of pain generator (s). See osteopath ; rule in/rule out candidate transducers.See 1 more doctor answer
Neck pain for 1yr had c3.4.5 cervical facet inj which relieved pain for 2days then pain came again had another facet inj a week later same result. Help?
Radiculopathy: Absolutely! Most disc herniations do not hurt locally in the neck, but make your arm/hand feel painful as the electrical cable towards that area is squeezed. Get a good MRI and have a good local ortho spine doc evaluate you to put the exam findings and imaging together to get you the right diagnosis. Good luck!See 3 more doctor answers
Lots of options: First, one should seek out a pm;r pain specialist (or maybe anesthesiologist with pain training) to fully evaluate the neck. An MRI may end up being needed, but not after usually trying more conservative treatments such as nsaids, prednisone, and maybe pt. Surgery is not usually needed or appropriate for axial neck pain. Interventional pain injections into the appropriate structure can help.
On your back: The best position while sleeping to prevent neck pain would be on your back, with your neck supported by a pillow. You might try sleeping with a neck pillow.
Have cervical kyphosis and chronic neck pain. Can that affect your back and cause back pajn as well. Mild cervical stenisis and Degen disc in neck.
NO question: This can cause the symptoms you ask about. You need to see your doctor for more advice in this regard. Make sure it is only mild and does not need surgery. Many times surgery can be avoided. Best wishes
I have pain around the area of lower left rib cage, radiating pain, diffused. At the same time and side, left dull shoulder & neck pain. What is it?
Many causes: There are numerous causes of left shoulder arm chest neck pain in the most serious one can be heart attack in older patients, or it could be a simple sprain or overuse syndrome or inflammation of the ribs or muscles of the chest, simple viral infections can cause diffuse muscle pain and aches. In a young person like yourself most likely it is activity related based on over use of some kind, .
Attacks of pain in right anterior rib cage and right sided neck pain. Pain is sharp and seems to be alleviated by pressing with fingers at about the c1area?
Severl possibilities: You should see a Spine specialist as soon as possible for a thorough history and physical exam which would likely include xrays and a MRI.Diagnoses can range from muscle spasm to Thoracic Outlet to cervical radiculopathy or costochondritis for starters. Treatment may include a muscle relaxant, neuropathic agent, possible block and/or Physical Therapy. Cardiac workup and reflux eval may also be nec
Eval by PM&R: Would be advisable to see a physiatrist. Would consider physical therapy, ice/heat pack, nsaid if no aspirin allergy, and hep program. Also, should be aware of posture and activities that could be worsening problem. So if picking heavy objects should avoid it. Also, consider ergonomic adjustment in work environment so that neck is in neutral position. Cervical pillow could also be bought.
Cervicalgia w/ rad: First. An MRI is needed to make sure you do not have spinal stenosis. something that can go on to have serious side effects if not surgically corrected. There are many causes of neck pain and the cause needs to be ascertained in order to treat properly. Muscle spasm responds well to PT, heat, stretching. Other structural defects needs to be addressed by a qualified nuero or orthopedic suregeon.
I have had neck pain for the last 4 to 5 months and its getting worse the ER says its a cervical sprain so why isn't it heal then?
See specialist: If you had an accident of some sort months ago and were diagnosed w/ a sprain in the e. R. And are continuing to have pain then see your spine specialist for examination and further studies. I see in your history you have already had back surgery... You may want to see him/ her for evaluation. Good luck.!
If conervative tx are tried for a year and symptoms got worse, is op the only option? Diangosis cervical hnp 22.214.171.124 neck pain arm pain numbness. I'm only 30 yrs old
Depends: If you have significant compression on the nerve roots based on the MRI scan and your symptoms are limited to the same involved nerve roots, then surgery will help you and is a good idea. If how ever your symptoms can not be explained, based on the nerve roots involved on x-rays then, surgery may not be helpful. I hope that helps good luck.
