A Hot Subject: Yes,maybe.Harvard scientists found t the body uses more energy in digesting raw food than it does cooked food; that more of the energy available from raw food is lost to bacteria in our gut than is the case with cooked food, and that the body expends energy fighting off pathogens that are more prolific in raw food than in cooked.Who'd-a thunk? Also, strictly speaking hot food contains more calories. ...Read more
17m baby,eating 3 meals only,3 cups yoghurt daily 100 gm each,no bread,1or2 tbs pasta or rice,1oz chicken/meat,3 tbs veg.,200 ml fruits.no sugar/salt?
REALLY UNHEALTHY!!!: This is recipe for disaster. Potatoes are in the environmental working group's dirty dozen foods-they're high in pesticides if not organic & are readily converted to sugar so raise blood sugar, causing weight gain & increased risk of diabetes. Generic "vegetable oil" is almost certainly corn, soy or canola which are all gmo if not organic & very toxic, fried potatoes have carcinogenic acrylamides. ...Read more

There are no studies to prove that rice cereal should be the first food introduced. The current trend is to start meats, vegetables, fruits & cereals in no sequence. Try a new food for a few days first before trying another. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Is gluten free pasta ( maize starch, soy flour, potato starch and rice starch)with about 40 gm carbohydrates good for cholesterol ?
Does not matter: Since 90% of the cholesterol is produced by the body regardless of your diet, the above would not noticeably affect your cholesterol level. Do note that too much carb may not be good for your health. I don't believe extreme diet does anyone any good. Just eat anything in moderation and exercise at least 3 hrs a week will likely keep you in better shape. ...Read more

Gaining weight: That's great that you are not consuming a lot of carbs and are watching your diet. You also need to look at the overall quantity (and calories) of what you are eating as well. Are you exercising too? Without physical activity (cardio), it is hard to lose weight. You have to burn more calories than you are consuming. You might be doing this already and have another reason for weight gain. ...Read more
More palateable: Either formula will work, however, there is an issue with palatability of the infant to tolerate the formula. Thus, its a matter of trying out the formula. Historically the soy based formula is more popular and also less expensive and readily available. Rice formula tends to be sold in certains stores. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Not by itself : It is worth remembering that white rice as a staple in eastern countries caused the ancient nutrient deficient disease called beriberi. Rice without the cusp that surrounds the grain is just starch and is metabolized as glucose. Glucose requires vitamin b to feed the energy mechanisms of cells. Taking starch without the necessary vitamins is like gas in a car cylinder with inadequate spark plug. ...Read more
