Sialoadenitis: Yes no problem to take this for that type of infection.
Was told that a swollen/blocked salivary gland or mucocoele could last forever. Was told from a oral surgeon. Is that actually possible.
Not likely: A salivary gland infection is not very common and and it is also not very contagious. You may have blocked salivary gland which will make it swollen and painful. If it is not a salivary gland that is swollen but rather a lymph node, your mouth/oral/ respiratory infection is more contagious.
My salivary gland is swollen on the side I had three teeth remove one was a wisdom tooth. Is this cause for concern?
Do you mean: You have a swollen cheek? That would be normal for a wisdom tooth removal. If it isn't better in a week or ten days, see your oral surgeon.
Small swollen spot on inside of lower jaw...no pain. One identical, but not swollen on opposite jaw. Is this a cause for concern? Salivary Gland?
Tori: Is it hard? If so it is probably a torus. No concern unless it gets too big. If soft, get it checked.
I think I have a swollen salivary gland that is recurring periodically over many years. What to do?
Many years problem: You must see a dentist, oral surgeon or otolaryngologist (ear, nose, throat doctor) who will see what your problem exactly is and then determine the appropriate course of treatment.
I've been diagnosed with perioral derm. Can a swollen bottom lip and swollen salivary gland also be part of pod?
Perioral: Perioral dermatitis results in bumps around the skin of the mouth, and a rash may appear around the eyes, nose, and forehead. The condition usually is characterized by an uncomfortable burning sensation around the mouth. So swellling in the lip and salivary gland could very well be experienced.See 1 more doctor answer
Main salivary gland under tongue is swollen. Neck under the right side of my jawline is swollen a lil also. Neck swelling goes up & down. Any ideas?
Salivary Gland stone: You may have either an infection of the salivary gland on the right side (submandibular gland) or may be a stone blocking the duct of the gland. It probably swells when you eat and then goes down as the saliva passes the obstruction. See an ENT physician to check your salivary glands.
Can salivary stones be present without salivary gland swelling? One inner cheek swollen but dentist said salivary gland not swollen. What to do next?
Have mono, but my lymph nodes have been swollen for about 2 weeks and are enlarging. Should I be concerned? The salivary gland is as big as golf ball.
See your doctor: Follow up with your doctor and have them check you out since it is getting worse. Also get plenty of rest.
Probably not: My first question is whether it is your submandibular gland or a lymph node that is swollen because they are two different things. If it is your gland then you may have a blockage or an infection. If it is your lymph node you probably have an infection. In either case you need to see your oral surgeon and have him take a look at things to see if you need to be on antibiotics.See 1 more doctor answer
Have a disturbance below my jaw feeling like swollen and my face feels like numbness is it salivary gland infection? Or something else
Potential Infection: Swellings often is an inflammatory response that could be secondary to an infection. Sources of infections in the jaw may be from any tissue both hard and soft. Salivary gland swelling is not the most common type however should be evaluated by a dentist or physician.
Since last 2 weeks I have, 1. Around 4 hard small (<1 cms) movable lumps on top of Adams Apple. 2. Swollen Gland below left jaw (possibly salivary gland) 3. No pain, but sometimes discomfort while gulping food.?
Lump in the neck: Hi there, multiple swollen glands could be due to infection. You could have had an infection two weeks back and now are feeling fine but still hav ethe lumps. Reason being is that post infection these lumps or glands may take some time to completely resolve to a size they're not noticeable. Please see your go for an evaluation
My husband's gp diagnosed a swollen salivary gland and is sending him to see an ent. What kinds of tests and treatment can we expect?
Gland: Salivary glands typically swell from a blocked duct. The blockage can be a mucus plug which generally passes or a hard calcified plug which an oral surgeon can remove. It is common and I would suggest the oral surgeon first as this is an oral issue more than an ear nose or throat issue. Simple for the OS to diagnose.
There are major and minor salivary glands. The major glands (parotid, submandibular, and sublimgul) are paired on each side of the jaw. There are about 300 minor glands scattered about the mouth and throat. They all produce saliva which keeps the mouth moist and helps with ...Read more
