My glands are swollen under my tongue, if I have a salivary gland infection is it contagious?

My glands are swollen under my tongue, if I have a salivary gland infection is it contagious?

Not likely: A salivary gland infection is not very common and and it is also not very contagious. You may have blocked salivary gland which will make it swollen and painful. If it is not a salivary gland that is swollen but rather a lymph node, your mouth/oral/ respiratory infection is more contagious.

Perioral: Perioral dermatitis results in bumps around the skin of the mouth, and a rash may appear around the eyes, nose, and forehead. The condition usually is characterized by an uncomfortable burning sensation around the mouth. So swellling in the lip and salivary gland could very well be experienced.

Main salivary gland under tongue is swollen. Neck under the right side of my jawline is swollen a lil also. Neck swelling goes up & down. Any ideas?

Salivary Gland stone: You may have either an infection of the salivary gland on the right side (submandibular gland) or may be a stone blocking the duct of the gland. It probably swells when you eat and then goes down as the saliva passes the obstruction. See an ENT physician to check your salivary glands.

Can salivary stones be present without salivary gland swelling? One inner cheek swollen but dentist said salivary gland not swollen. What to do next?

Can salivary stones be present without salivary gland swelling? One inner cheek swollen but dentist said salivary gland not swollen. What to do next?

Second Opinion: Salivary duct stone can cause a blockage of the flow of saliva, which can lead to inflammation, pain and swelling. Get a second opinion and imaging tests from a doctor experienced with salivary gland (ENT, Dentist or Oral Surgeon).

I had a wisdom tooth removed and now submandibular salivary gland is swollen. Is this normal?

I had a wisdom tooth removed and now submandibular salivary gland is swollen. Is this normal?

Probably not: My first question is whether it is your submandibular gland or a lymph node that is swollen because they are two different things. If it is your gland then you may have a blockage or an infection. If it is your lymph node you probably have an infection. In either case you need to see your oral surgeon and have him take a look at things to see if you need to be on antibiotics.

Since last 2 weeks I have, 1. Around 4 hard small (<1 cms) movable lumps on top of Adams Apple. 2. Swollen Gland below left jaw (possibly salivary gland) 3. No pain, but sometimes discomfort while gulping food.?

Lump in the neck: Hi there, multiple swollen glands could be due to infection. You could have had an infection two weeks back and now are feeling fine but still hav ethe lumps. Reason being is that post infection these lumps or glands may take some time to completely resolve to a size they're not noticeable. Please see your go for an evaluation

My husband's gp diagnosed a swollen salivary gland and is sending him to see an ent. What kinds of tests and treatment can we expect?

Gland: Salivary glands typically swell from a blocked duct. The blockage can be a mucus plug which generally passes or a hard calcified plug which an oral surgeon can remove. It is common and I would suggest the oral surgeon first as this is an oral issue more than an ear nose or throat issue. Simple for the OS to diagnose.
