No known effect: Central serous is a condition of unknown cause. It does not respond to any pharmacologic therapy and minimally if at all to laser. Exercise seems independent of its extent so you may do vigorous exercise without proven harm. Read more

Unknown: This is a condition of vascular serum leakage in the macular area occurring most commonly in the middle years. It is painless but disturbs the vision, sometimes significantly. No procedure or medication seems to help except in the uncommon cases when a single vessel can be identified as leaking - then it can be laser sealed. Depends: If you had photodynamic therapy (pdt) with verteporfin (visudyne) as I suspect, then you can not have any sunlight or uv exposure until your retinal specialist says so. You could get severe skin burns if you do. Read more

Corticosteroids: Most cases of csr occur in men between the ages of 25 and 55. Most of the time there is no obvious cause and most cases improve without treatment. Stress and cortisone type steroids are the most common cause when a cause can be identified. There is some evidence that stimulant type drugs like decongestants can be a cause. Theoretically, caffeine falls in this group, and should be used moderately. Read more

Whilst immediate vision loss may be as poor as 20/200 in the affected eye, clinically over 90% of patients regain 20/30 vision or better within 6 months. Great! However "The disease can re-occur causing progressive vision loss."and" There is also a chronic form" and prognosis is less favorable. Let's hope he's in the 90% range Read more

See a specialist: Sometime is caused by medicine and stopping those makes it to resolve. Other time is associated to a form of gastritis an that should be ruled out and treated if present. Some time will resolve spontaneously. Read more
