Maybe: Ssris may help with more than just pain in patients with fibromyalgia, namely, fatigue, anxiety. In fact, they may be more helpful for those symptoms than pain. On the other hand, snris (effexor, cymbalta) and tca (tricyclics - nortriptylin, amitriptylin etc.) do better than ssris alleviating the pain associated with fb. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Depends on person: All of the medications you mention can be highly effective. It can take awhile to find the one that has the best benefit with fewest side effects. At present, it's trial and error. My dr has just switched me from 15 mg of cipralex (lexapro) to 10 mg of celexa. He told me they are interchangeable, but i'm worried about withdrawl symptoms. I've tapered off Lexapro previously too quicky and know the w.D.'s involved. What should I do,
These : These two compounds are interchangeable but their potency is different: because of its more refined chemical composition and reduced protein binding, Lexapro (escitalopram) is considered to be approximately 4 times more potent than celexa. This means that 15 mg of Lexapro (escitalopram) is equivalent to approximately 60 mg of celexa. It appears then, that your Celexa dosage, which is 10 mg, may be low enough to cause some withdrawal symptoms. While this may not necessarily happen, a good strategy for you could be to contact your doctor and discuss your concerns as well as your previous experiences. ...Read more
