How to use betamethasone for phimosis and does it have any side effects? Please help doc...

Phimosis: If you use it too often, you might cause permanent thinning and fragility of the skin. You could rub it on daily for a week but i wouldn't go longer. Is it safe to use betamethasone 0.05% ointment on my 3 month old baby's body for eczema? Is it safe on the face? Any side effects?

Is it safe to use betamethasone 0.05% ointment on my 3 month old baby's body for eczema? Is it safe on the face? Any side effects?

No…betamethasone is: High potency steroid & could damage baby's skin as well as interfere with growth if used too much. Hydrocortisone is lower potency; use 0.5 or 1.0% (otc) & the smallest amount that puts a thin film on affected area. Face is very sensitive area; so "less is more" applies. If 0.5% insufficient (after 5-7 days' use) may try 1%. Still no response, consult pediatrician. ...Read more

Should different topical ointments be ever mixed? Can you tell me what side effects/if any could happen if you mix ammonium lactate cream, ketoconazal shampoo, betamethasone ointment, clobetasol propionate ointment?

The : The Betamethasone and the clobetasol are both steroids, therefore it is probably not a good idea to mix these together since steroids can cause thinning of the skin when used in high amounts or over prolonged periods of time. As far as the the other two ointments, there is no interaction as far as i can tell from my research; however you should consult the prescribing doctor or your local pharmacist to be sure. Take care. ...Read more
