I want to stop mediven betamethasone cream but if I do I get very itchy & rashes which later turns dark like dead skin. I used it before for allergy?
I've pruritis left foot in dist. Of medial plantar nerve for 5 yrs. Failed antifungals, lotrisone, (clotrimazole and betamethasone) hydration, urea, steroid cr. Allergy testing neg.?
Neither.: There is no "better" or "worse" among topical corticosteroids. (i'm assuming you are talking about topicals, but Dexamethasone is also given orally.) both are mid-strength anti-inflammatory creams. Maybe: That is a pretty potent steroid for inflammation related to insect bites. Hydrocortisone may be more appropriate as it is milder. Having said that, if there are large areas of redness and itchiness and no open or bleeding wounds, betamethasone wouldn't be harmful if used sparingly. Also 25 mg Benadryl (diphenhydramine) may help ease the reaction. ...Read more
Got a Celestone (betamethasone) shot today for resp issues. Are there any normal side effects? Worrisome side effects?
Short term.: Celestone (betamethasone) is a corticosteroid that helps with inflammatory conditions. Given one time short term side affects can occur. Water retention, short change in emotional status from elation to paranoia, blood sugar elevation can happen.Insomnia to excess energy might occur. Clotrimazole is an antifungal, Betamethasone is an anti-inflammatory; so the combination cream is used by many docs who are too lazy to figure out whether a rash is an eczema or a ringworm.
