Cefdinir Vs Amoxicillin For Strep
How long for Cefdinir to work on Strep in a 2 yr old? Amoxicillin ineffective for two days, switched to cefdinir last night, still very fevered & weak
Hi my daughter has strep throat its been a week still sick the doctor gave her cefdinir its not working do you think they should gave amoxicillin.
5 year old has strep throat and Cant get him to take the nasty medicine they prescribed. Cefdirin. They refuse to switch why can't he take amoxicilLin?
Switch or shot: I see no reason not to switch, and wonder why they would use such a foul tasting and expensive med to start with.If the kid won't take any oral med, a LA Bicillin shot would also work.
6 yr old had ear infect in oct took amoxicil for 6.5 days instead of 10. Month later got strep took cefdinir for 10days 6 wk later has hives related?
If i've never had an allergic reaction to penicillin or amoxicillin how worried should I be about a reaction to omnicef (cefdinir)?
Penicillin: If u had penicillin before, no need to worry.
My son was given amoxicillin had hive reaction to it. He was switched to cefdinir. He continues with hives. Does this mean he's also allergic to this?
I normally take amoxicillin before dental work but I forgot to have my prescription filled. I have some cefdinir, would that work as well? If so how much should I take. I normally take four 500 MG amoxicillin.
2 yr old had amoxicillin reaction, hives and itchy puffy rash. Doctor perscribed omnicef (cefdinir) in its place. Is this a safe alternative for my daughter?
Probably: Cross reactivity can occur between penicillins and cephalosporins so use this medication cautiously and consider an alternative if appropriate.See 1 more doctor answer
Hello. We have 4 kids, ages 5,3,1.5, and 8weeks. 5 yo and 1.5yo are on Amoxicillin and Cefdiner for ear infections. 3 yo on tobramycin for double pink eye. Now 1.5 yo and 8 week old have same symptoms as 3 yo with pink eye. Is it safe to give them tob
Mgt: Conjunctivitis or pink eye is very contagious. I would recommend that your two month old see your pediatrician. At this age infection may spread more easily to other areas and they also may have different susceptibility. Your 18 month old probably has the same infection and can start the Tobramycin drops, but each child should have their own dispenser.
Dosage: She gets a teaspoon twice a day of amoxicillen 200 mg per tsp.
Whats the correct dosage for amoxicillin and how much a day for my 3 1/2 year old..weighing 37 pounds. She has strep.
Rx'd by physician?: Was the strep throat formally diagnosed by a physician? Strep should be diagnosed by a physician via a rapid test or culture, you don't want to treat with antibiotics for a viral pharyngitis. The physician would have prescribed the amoxicillin in the dosage that is correct. As a general rule, it is 40 mg/kg per day divided into 2-3 doses for a strep infection. Amount depends on concentration.
Had strep three weeks ago. Amoxicillin for 10days 500mg twice a day. It's back now. What is best treatment this time?
Strep throat: i would be concerned that is wasnt strep throat. given that its back i would go to the doctor to culture the back of your tonsils, then start a different antibiotic. since your a breastfeeding F/U with your OB to be placed on an antibiotic that is safe during breast feeding. ideally you need something different than a penicillin or amoxicillin. after they obtain cultures you can taper antibiotics.
My daughter is 5 put on amoxicillin for strep evn though we're not using it right away can we still put in refrigerator?
? not using ?: Why you are not using a prescribed med is confusing. Yes it should be in the refrigerator. It begins to become ineffective after 2 weeks from when they added liquid if refrigerated & 1 week if at ac room temperature.See 1 more doctor answer
I am taking a 2nd antibiotic (750mg citprofloxacin 2x a day), because 500mg of amoxicillin 2x a day did not work. Is this the antibiotic for strep?
I was recently dx w/Strep F and my doc said it was nothing to worry about and rx for amoxicillin. Read unpleasant things online. Any info appreciated.
What unpleasant: things did you read? It is more likely to cause abscesses and is found more in immunocompromised people, but otherwise is susceptible to antibiotic. As long as you don't have these problems, it should be run of the mill infection treated w/antibiotic. Are you feeling better?See 1 more doctor answer
