If allergic to Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) & Ceclor, is allergy to all sulfa drugs & cephalosporins assumed?
Probably: Cefaclor belongs to a class of antibiotics called cephalosporins, which have a chemical structure similar, but different, to penicillin. 22 mths 9.6 kg daughtr had sever throt infctn 6 dys ago. She is on antibtc Ceclor for 5 dys. Fevr was down but tonit it is 103 again. Pl advice.?
It is not unusual as you have to give Antibiotics for a total of 10 days for Strep infection to be cleared. You can give Tylenol (acetaminophen) for fever and continue Ceclor. But if fever persists consult your Pediatrician and get her rechecked.
Is she being treated for confirmed Strep Infection by quick strep test. If not call your Pediatrician now. ...Read more
