What does "the marrow signal in the cervical spine is decreased" mean? It says it can be correlated with a CBC. From MRI scan from 2007. Concerns?
Not much: Each of the tissues in an MRI gives if a characteristic signal, which then makes it a certain appearance on the image. So the marrow signal was lower than average. This could be a normal variant, but is sometimes seen in patients with abnormalities of the marrow system which produces our blood cells; thus the recommendation to correlate with a CBC. You don't have it: If all of those tests are normal, and hopefully including a normal iron panel, then you don't have hemochromatosis. The only other concern would be if you knew that your relatives had the genetic mutation for hereditary hemochromatosis. Doesn't sound like it though. Their alcoholism was probably the cause. Don't worry: Don't worry, but follow up with your doctor to make sure all bases are covered. Let your doctor do the worrying, if any is to be done. Trace of blood and protein is abnormal, but physical trauma (like being hit in the back, etc) could cause that result. It may not mean any ongoing illness at all.
