Cbc test shows high wbc, low hematocrit, low mcv, low mch, high platelet count, low lymphocytes and monocytes - can you define these for me?

Cbc test shows high wbc, low hematocrit, low mcv, low mch, high platelet count, low lymphocytes and monocytes - can you define these for me?

My son went to the dr and they did lab work, CBC and other normal blood draws. What should I prepare for when they say the results came back very high?

YOU NEED INFORMATION: I assume they told you the results were not normal. Next you talk to the dr. Don't let fear of the answer hold you back. If the results don't fit the clinical picture the tests should be repeated or additional tests ordered. Talk with the dr and don't hide from answers. Things usually turn out better than you fear. ...Read more

What CBC test measure has high norm limit 4.9 (7 y/o boy) and what is significance of 5.8 level? Also, what is a "shift to the left" on a cbc? Thanks!

What CBC test measure has high norm limit 4.9 (7 y/o boy) and what is significance of 5.8 level? Also, what is a "shift to the left" on a cbc? Thanks!

Shift to left: Shift to left (or "left shift") on a CBC means that there are more neutrophils or bands then normal. This can be a sign for bacterial infections or an early response to infection.
