See a doctor: White spots on the tonsils could mean strep throat, but not necessarily. It could be a virus, and either one could cuase laryngitis with loss of voice. Not likely strep: This doesn't sound like strep. Unless you have fever, new sore throat and positive culture, antibiotics are usually avoided. Instead, it may be chronic tonsillitis as others have suggested. Try gargling with baking soda and salt dissolved in water.
