Can going on walks while 35 weeks pregnant cause uterine tetany and deprive the baby of oxygen?

Can going on walks while 35 weeks pregnant cause uterine tetany and deprive the baby of oxygen?

No.: Uterine tetany is usually related to Oxytocin administered to augment labor after labor induction. This must be done in the hospital where they can administer Magnesium sulfate to reverse it, if needed, and monitor the well-being of the baby. Abruptio placentae and other rare metabolic conditions. There have been ruled out already, I presume. Actually walking will increase blood flow.

Is hypocalcaemic tetany somehow related to paralysis?

Hypocalcemic tetany: Is due to hyperexcitability at all levels of nervous system, mostly peripheral nerves (irritability at points where nerves and muscles interact). Paralysis is not a common feature of hypocalcemia unless severe, prolonged seizure goes untreated. Paralysis has many causes, most unrelated to low ca. Mutation of certain calcium channels is linked to hypokalemic periodic paralysis but not due to low ca.

There: There are many causes of spasm but considering your recent surgery I would see your spine surgeon to rule out problem with your spine instrumentation and fusion. Sometimes the bone fusion does not heal and the rod and screws break or you can develop new problems above or below the fusion levels. Good luck!
