Eds?: Not familiar w/ abbreviation. Sounds like u subluxated your patella( kneecap) though . Sorry didn't realize you had ehler's danlos syndrome ... Now i understand. As you know very well your joints are 'looser' than ' normal' joints and kneecaps can 'slip' out of place w/ the stresses of squatting.See your ors for evaluation and quad strengthening/ patellar bracing if needed. Need exam: Swelling means inflammation. You can have a meniscal tear, ligament issues, arthritic changes within the knee. If the swelling doesn't go away with some short rest, ice, anti-inflammatory meds like ibuprofen, then see your doc or orthopedic specialist. It might be time for an mri. X-rays only show boney problems, and most knee issues are soft-tissue related. ...Read more

Reasonable concern : If you truly cannot bend the knee or bear weight then the injury is sufficient to be concerned. Whether or not you need immediate attention would be impossible to say based on limited information. Often one can elevate, ice and rest for 48-72 hrs to see if it improves.
