Best have it seen to: By your pcp. You could have pulled a muscle in upper thigh or it could just be a hematoma (collection of blood), which will resolve by itself over 7-10 days time. You could apply an icepack, take pain meds and rest the knee would all help. After an examination the correct treatment could be initiated depending on your diagnosis. Good luck. ...Read more

Needs exam: There are many causes for the swelling, it could be be as simple as an immunization reaction. She needs a good exam to look at her leg and a good hip exam to ensure her hip is properly placed.. Your doctor may need to order imaging to look at the swelling and her hip. This can range from an Ultrasound, to regular Xrs to an MRI. Because 5 month olds do not walk, pain is difficult to assess. ...Read more

Leg swelling: 18 year old lady w/ swelling of the left upper thigh when compared with the right leg. Leg swelling that is unilateral should be evaluated for DVT, vascular problems including May-Thurner syndrome, cellulitis, ruptured Baker's cyst, fracture, compartment syndrome, and one of the most dangerous causes: bleeding. Lymph nodes?: Is the swelling in the groin area on the leg where the vaccines were given? If so, this is likely enlarged lymph nodes and can be normal after vaccinations. Make an appointment for your daughter to be evaluated by her pediatrician. They will be able to determine, after they see the area you are worried about, the diagnosis and whether any treatment is needed. ...Read more

I've had DVT in the past (18 months ago, treated, off thinners for about 9 months.) i'm experiencing some swelling in the leg and an intermittent tingling sensation upper thigh -- should I go to er?

Needs Evaluation: The blood clots from DVT are rarely completely dissolved after treatment and recurrences are not uncommon. Damage to the valves in the leg veins may also predispose to leg swelling. At any rate, if your are experiencing leg swelling you should be evaluated. Mild symptoms don't usually require a trip to the er. Call your primary care doc. ...Read more
