Probably unrelated: The thecal sac is what surrounds the spinal cord and contains spinal fluid. Effacement just means that there is no fluid in the space around the spinal cord. This can be from pressure inside the cord, outside the cord, or a non-specific normal variant. You need to discuss this with your doctor and get a thorough neurological evaluation. ...Read more

Neuritis: Repetitive trauma to the wrist could result in a carpel tunnel type syndrome. Sometimes nsaid's could be helpful in reducing symptoms. Can take before and after work providing he has no allergies or GI problems. Neurologist or hand surgeon can give a more definitive diagnosis. ...Read more

Could be infection: It is difficult to tell exactly what you have due to limited info, but trauma, tendinitis, phlebitis (inflammation in vein) can cause such symptoms. Infection (cellulitis) is more of a concern here. If you recently had iv/blood draw, bug bite, scratched by cat/dog/rose thorn etc...And now have swollen hand, please consult doc for eval.
