What could cause a swelling at the back of my head at the base of my skull, and painful lump under my jaw?
Most lumps, benign: Don't start worrying. The majority of small bumps on your head would be benign (not cancer). Lumps that can be tender are cysts, lymph nodes and less likely lipomas. Probably lymph node: Do you have any abnormality in the scalp, even a bad case of dandruff? What you described sounds like result of some inflammation in the scalp and enlarged draining lymph node. Listen to MD: Brain swelling is an ominous sign, but after being checked by an md should point you in the right direction.
