What can cause shoulder pain in front of the clavicle on the left side when sitting having back support? And no pain when standing or laying
Unclear: I'll say that "in front of the clavicle" close to the breastbone is the sternoclavicular joint. The pectoralis major muscle attaches to the "front" of the clavicle, but I've never seen a strain of that muscle hurt in that location. Other small ligaments and muscles attach to the clavicle, but I just can't imagine anything that causes pain only when sitting. ...Read more

Depends: You don't give your age or situation. The commonest cause might be a local peripheral nerve injury if you have had a fall or blow. However, if you are old enough to have any kind of arthritis, this could represent a spin injury for example from a compression fracture or a disc. I have been diagnosed with a syrinx. Left neck, clavicle pain and numbness of my fingers. The most recent MRI shows a syrinx from C6-T1 and my previous MRI a year ago shows a syrinx at C6. I have been told it is too small to cause the pain. Thoughts?
