Causes Of Small Kidneys
Renal ultrasound showed small hyperechoic foci in both kidneys. What can cause multiple small stones in both kidneys in a 33 yr. Old male? Could taking high vit d daily with calcium long term cause it
Kidney stones: The question is why are you taking vitamin d and calcium (c) at all? Your stones could certainly be due to taking those agents. Have a physician order a 24 hour urine collection for uric acid, c and phosphorus levels. If your calcium is high in it, you may need to be on diuretics to reduce the c there. Have a doctor discuss with you the reasons you should or should not be on vit d and c. Good luck. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Lungs?: Kidneys vary in size a little. What do you mean small and why are they small? If she has a chronic kidney disease and her kidneys are small as a result of that it could be related to her current symptoms. Just found out I have a small myelolipoma on my R kidney. Can that cause any problems? Does it trigger hormone release like excessive growth hormones?
Rare and benign: myelolipoma of the kidney is a rare and benign lesion usually of adrenal but sometimes found in the kidney. If it enlarges in the kidney it may compress the hilum to produce hydronephrosis and in even rarer cases may have a liposarcomatous component. There are no reported cases of producing hormone and would never induce production of growth hormone which is of pituitary origin. ...Read more
Ureteral stone: The size of the stone does not correlate well to the intensity of the pain. The nearly unbearable pain of "ureteral colic" is from spasm of the muscular ureter. Although likely to pass on its own within a few days, a 2-3mm stone sometimes will get stuck and fail to progress. Usually after 5 days, i recommend having the stone extracted with a ureteroscope as an outpatient. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
