I have sharp pain in both my upper arms along with a popping sound when I move them. What should I do?

Shoulder is suspect: This problem sounds muskuloskeletal, which means it is either a joint (like shoulder), a tendon or bursae, or muscle or ligament. From description sounds like it is stemming from the shoulder joint and one of the attachments (muscle, tendon..). It is the only joint in the body that has full rotation, so it is quite complex. Recommend rheumatologist (medical doc) or orthopedist (surgical doc). ...Read more

I regularly lean on my elbow when watching. after days of leaning,a sharp pain in my upper arm rose(tricep area)(felt like nerve(maybe),its been 7mnth?

The Human Lean-To: Yes it could be a nerve problem(neuropathy)from leaning. I'm surprised your back doesn't also hurt! Had really bad muscle tension from anxiety. My anxiety is gone now but today i have a sharp pain in my upper arm, like im being poked with a needle?

Breathing helps: Anxiety causes muscles to tighten. The brain is receiving an SOS and is getting ready to fight or flee. You can change that message by relaxing your thoughts using self hypnosis, or mindful meditation. Find a comfortable spot. Breathe deeply. Visualize a quiet, pleasant scene. Image a light, strong and healing flowing through your body. Let muscles relax as if little fists are letting go. Enjoy. ...Read more

When i lift my arms up over my head and arch my back to stretch, i get a shooting sharp pain through my lower abdomen. What could cause sharp pain?

Spine problem: You may be compressing a nerve root in your spine when you arch your back in the manner you describe. You should see a neurologist who may need to order an MRI or ct scan to see why this happens: disc disease, tumor, bone growth, etc. Until you are seen and evaluated, try not to stretch in that manner, and do not see a chiropracter. ...Read more

Neurology question. Using my arm right a lot has caused, pain, twitches and permanent numbness. This started back in the 1970's when i began painting lessons a a child & started to use my rt arm a lot. Sharp pain in underside of rt forearm from elbow towa

I'm : I'm sorry to hear of your problem. I have a few questions that need to be addressed to better help you. Did you have a MRI of the cervical spine and emg? If so, what did they show? The prior doctor sounds as if he/she was describing a brachial plexopathy. While that might be the case your presentation would be odd. True neurogenic thoracic outlet syndrome (tos) is more commonly seen in women when congenital. More common is a traumatic cause (i.e. Motorcycle accident, gunshot wound...). The differential diagnosis includes median nerve entrapment at the pronator teres muscle and/or carpal tunnel syndrome. Wasting is a concern and should cause you to have this addressed as some of these conditions are treatable. Good luck and well wishes. ...Read more
