Probably muscular: Probably muscular, can ask for a referral to physical therapy for a few weeks. Also need to consder that is might come from the neck. I'm : I'm sorry to hear of your problem. I have a few questions that need to be addressed to better help you. Did you have a MRI of the cervical spine and emg? If so, what did they show? The prior doctor sounds as if he/she was describing a brachial plexopathy. While that might be the case your presentation would be odd. True neurogenic thoracic outlet syndrome (tos) is more commonly seen in women when congenital. More common is a traumatic cause (i.e. Motorcycle accident, gunshot wound...). The differential diagnosis includes median nerve entrapment at the pronator teres muscle and/or carpal tunnel syndrome. Need more info: What level of spine was the mri--cervical, thoracic or lumbar? What neurological exam findings do you have? How did you injure your back, was it one acute accident or years of wear & tear? Likely, thoracic para spinal muscle spasm would not cause leg pain, but this really is a question for your neurologist. Good luck! ...Read more
