Tendinitis: Most likely what you are experiencing is tendinitis.There are numerous conservative treatments including ice, heat, rest, anti-inflammatory meds (NSAIDS), wraps, etc.I do not, however, personally recommend NSAIDS - they reduce pain at the cost of interfering w/healing.Rest may help as may icing or heat.If problem is long-term, I recommend prolotherapy to strengthen the tendon & stop chronic inflam ...Read more

Maybe maybe not: A frozen shoulder has very limited movement, either with the muscles (active) or passively (using the good arm or someone else to move it). It is best treated by a shoulder specialist and usually physical therarpy. Other things can cause pain in the area you mention. Have her see her primary doctor to sort things out. An orthopaedic surgeon or physical medicine specialist could also assess her. ...Read more

Severe pain from shoulder down deltoid into bicep. Not rotator cuff. More pain when arm is rotated toward chest. Torn cartilage in other shoulder. ??

Get examined!: At age 55 your most common cause for this pain would still be 'impingement' ( or bursitis). Labral tears causing this pain are less likely unless associated with the biceps 'anchor'( SLAP) lesions -- but less likely in isolation in your age group.Osteoarthritis can cause pain in this distribution .
