Causes Of Rib Cage Cramps
Muscle use/overuse: Many muscles are involved with running and breathing. Muscles cramp when over used and become sore and tender. If this releives when your stop and rest, one would think not a problem. Persistence means one should get checked out.
Pain like cramp or stitch in stomach on left side just under rib cage. 1wk ago started after going long trips in van. Now occurs more. What's the cause?
Several causes: There could be several potential causes. It could be causes by a muscle strain, costochondritis, spleen, colon, kidney, stomach, or pulmonary. If you are feeling better, it may be more of a strain. If symptoms persist, see a MD. As you where on a long van ride, I would worry about a pulmonary embolism. If your symptoms are associated with any shortness of breath, I would consult your physician ASAP

UR gallbladder: A long history of right sided upper abdominal pain should make a search for stones in gb mandatory even it is just for such a short time. If the pain occurs during physical activity it is called "stitch" or exercise related transient abdominal pain (ertap). It can be on the right or left side and is a benign condition of unknown origin.
Pain/cramp on left rib cage. Could it be something serious? How do you know it's just the rib muscles?
Hi, been having a strong pain under left rib cage feels like a cramp or pinch only while doing sit-ups or any ab work out?
Muscle: If your pain is exercise related, especially at your age, you have probably sprained an abdominal muscle. Go easy on the ab exercises until your symptoms improve, and try some oral anti-inflammatory meds. See your physician if symptoms persist.

I have endometriosis and adenomyosis when I get these awful pelvic cramps they radiate to my right rib cage. Is that normal? Should I be worried?
Explainable: 33y w. flank pain during "endometriosis cramps". Endometriosis a theoretical disorder absent definitive etiologically proof. I studied about 100 cases; found joint hypermobility in most. IMO, pelvic girdle instability, enhanced by hormone Relaxin, arouses painful pelvic ligament stretch during menstrual cycle in these women. Comp response to ligament strain is painful soft tissue
Need to get checked: Cardiac and gastric causes most likely, and these could be serious. Need to go to physican for eval. Stop Ibuprofen right away.
I have endo/adenomyosis I get painful cramps that always go from my pelvis up to my right rib cage and to my back what can it be. So scared?
Your: Symptoms do sound like endometriosis. Stick to your treatment
When I go to bed, I turn to sleep on my stomach I get horrible cramps in the rib cage area, I breathe through it and it goes away. What is this?
? intercostal nerve: It's possible that a pinching of the nerve running between the ribs occurs with position change. Typically it causes very sharp shooting pain in the rib cage and may worsen with a deep breath. Otherwise I would suspect some sort of muscle spasm that occurs with position change. Have your md check you if your symptoms persist or worsen.See 1 more doctor answer

I been having this discomfort in my stomach, cramps, heartburn and I feel like a poking on both side of lower rib cage and on my upper abdomen or stom?
? gastritis: Inflammation of the stomach lining (gastritis) is likely. Follow a bland diet, avoid alcohol and caffeine, take an antacid like mylanta 1/2 hours after meals and at bedtime, and take prilosec daily. If symptoms persist see your physician or a gastroenterologist for diagnosis and treatment. Peptic ulcer, pancreatic inflammation are other possibilities.
I have a pain below my rib cage that radietes to my lower stomach and some god awful cramps....Ad also pain after intercourse and when I pee?
All over the place!: Pain: after sex = infection or endometriosis; when you pee = UTI or herpes; below rib cage = muscle strain, gall bladder, or ulcer; cramping inplies a hollow organ. It is very difficult to put all of these symptoms together into one unifying diagnosis. See your doc and pee in a cup, have an abdominal/pelvic exam, and see where those initial investigations guide you!
