? intercostal nerve: It's possible that a pinching of the nerve running between the ribs occurs with position change. Typically it causes very sharp shooting pain in the rib cage and may worsen with a deep breath. Otherwise I would suspect some sort of muscle spasm that occurs with position change. Have your md check you if your symptoms persist or worsen. ...Read more

Probably not: If it's just been a couple times and an isolated symptom, then don't worry about it. It may be something as simple as having some gas which caused a reactionary cramp. Not likely celiac: Celiac disease is not typically associated with LUQ abdominal pain, and is more likely associated with loose stools, gas and bloat. I'd be more concerned for acid reflux, gastritis, gastric ulcer, or constipation. You could see if it responds to a simple antacid, and if so, it's your stomach and you could try omeprazole. Otherwise, try miralax (polyethylene glycol) to relieve your constipation and see if it helps. ...Read more
