I had a PE last year due to having two abdominal surgeries. I'm getting sick with pneumonia/cold type symptoms. Could it cause a PE?
UR higher risks of P: The respiratory illness is not likely to directly cause a PE, but you are higher risk. The immobility and changes in blood clotting after surgery are high risk factors, but you have shown you can get a PE. If you become very immobile due to this illness, you are at risk of forming clots in your legs which can become PEs. Staying well hydrated and mildly active and not bedridden reduces risk. ...Read more

Masturbation is generally considered a normal part of teen sexual development, and can in fact have some health benefits. It has not been associated with premature aging, erectile dysfunction, or other male sexual or hormonal disorders or conditions. ...Read more

Yes - but w/ caution: Yes-- you can a have normal pregnancy, but you have to talk in detail with your eventual obstetrician and/or your current internist to see why a young 25 y/o had b/l PE's to begin with. I was struck in the leftcenter chest on 10/15. By dec 27 test found to have multiple bilateral pe w/factor v, timing right for 10/15 injury as cause?
Hard to know.: Factor v leiden (inherited from one or both parents) increases your risk for clots in the legs that can travel up to the lungs, where they can be lethal. If your chest injury made you immobile for a period of time, i.e., days or weeks, you may have developed a leg clot that traveled northward. But the injury may have had nothing to do with the pe! Could a recent plane flight have put you at risk? ...Read more
I am a 24 years old male, I suffer from pe. Can my depression, which I have had for six years be a cause?
Can certain types of exercise aggravate an existing dvt? Possibly cause another piece to break off and maybe result in a pe?
Uncertain: There is evidence that early walking exercise can be started in uncomplicated DVT within the first day after appropriate anticoagulant treatment & use of compression devices. Walking daily anywhere between 1-5 miles is associated with improvements in pain & swelling, and no increased risk of pe, compared to bed rest. Currently we lack data on the safety of vigorous or aggresive exercise after dvt. ...Read more

I've had pain when taking a deep breath in my back and chest I have a rotator cuff injury that is said to have caused this but I think it's a PE?
Causes of PE: PE and DVT are caused by either prolonged periods of not moving, injuries, or genetic clotting disorders. In the absence of any of these, why would you have a PE. Also, typically there would be a leg clot. Is your leg swollen? I agree the RTC tears don't typically cause back or chest pain but there are many other possible diagnoses, such as costochondritis, that would be more likely. ...Read more

Highly unlikely: Making an incision and placing a tube in the ear drum can cause scarring.
